If you only like the look of the ball, get the Saleen Short Shift Adapter. Soooooo easy to install even though the directions were meaningless to me. It costs about $26 if I recall and when installed, shortens the shift great.
Here is how to look at it on your car....
Draw a two inch circle, on a piece of paper. Now draw another so that the circles just touch. That is what the first gear to second gear shift looks like. That's seriously how far the shift knob moves now. [click]
The cool part is that you can keep your old knob and no one will know you have the new shifter so you can swap the old knob back when you take it in for service, leaving the short shift adapter in place. Put the cool new knob on when you leave the dealership
yeah, i have thought of that, and i have looked at the saleen adapter. but i want more than just shorter shifts, i want better, more accurate shifts and a 3rd gear that isnt a bi-yach to find. plus, i have heard from several that the stocker just isnt up to the stresses of racing. i think i have learned that as mine is already feeling like i screwed it up. if you look at a photo of the stocker along side a hurst or steeda tri-ax, there is a huge difference in the strength of the rail, bushings, bearings, etc. as always in cars, standard issue is insufficient. a shifter is no different. i believe the stock one to be a piece of crap and thus plan to scrap the whole thing. thats why we have an aftermarket..... to fix all of the manufacturers foul ups and build the car the way they should have....:thumbsup
If they can trace the damage back to the part having caused it then it will void the warranty or if you screw up installing it and break something then they wont cover it

To the OP, You need to know something. The dealer doesn't not make the decission on a warrenty claim. FORD does. The dealer may have to get an appoval from Ford before doing the work. Just like an other insurance claim. The warrenty is just like insurance. Now FORD also considers FRPP as Third Party Parts, NOT Factory, or Motorcraft. And yes there is a difference between Ford and Motorcraft parts. Just ask a Ford dealer for the price on a Motorcraft (cheaper) and Ford (more $$) brake pads, or brake rotors.
My dealer installed my FRPP parts on both of my Foose stangs.
1st one - dealer installed all of this at approximately 2000 miles - FRPP Hot Rod Cams, BBK SHorty Headers, Steeda UDP, FRPP 3.73 Gears, Steeda Powder Coated Valve Covers, and took it to a dyno shop!
2nd car - dealer installed before I ever took delivery - FRPP Whipple SC, FRPP Hot Rod Cams, FRPP Shorty Header, FRPP Chrome Valve Covers, Speed of Sound Dash Pod, Nexus Gauges, and took it to the dyno shop.
In both cases, warranty was discussed ahead of time with the dealer and as long as the aftermarket part did not cause the issue, they were not worried about it since they were doing the install and the major components of concern were FRPP parts. In fact, on the second car, by the dealer installing the parts before delivery, I retained the full 3 yr/36K mile warranty. If I had taken possession of the vehicle as I did on the first 07 vehicle and then installed the parts through the dealer, the warranty drops to 1 yr.
All of this work on both cars was performed within the past few months.

You are 100% correct, that is how the warranty works, any dealers deviate from that RUN like hell....
I can't believe I am going to respond to yet another "void my warranty" thread....
No. No aftermarket part "voids" your warranty. Now, having said that, if you have a failure, and the dealer can determin that your specific failure is a result of an aftermarket part being installed on your vehicle, then the dealer can deny a warranty claim for that specific failure.
But no, putting a FRPP shifter in your car is not going to "void" your warranty.
And to add to this, if a Dealer installs the FRPP item, then NO again...the FRPP item will not void the warranty.
At the same time, some dealers are hard nosed, so if you're not up to fighting with them, find a Ford Performance Dealer, ie. ones that sell Shelby, Saleen & Roush Vehicles...they know the performance business better as well as the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
I apologize if this was already addressed, didn't read thru all the responses.

No you are WRONG! The FRPP 500 or 550 HP S/C has NO Warranty. If you get it installed, even by a FRPP Dealer, still NO Warranty. You blow your engine, the Factory Warranty will NOT cover it. The FRPP 400 hp S/C has a 1 year Warranty. Any FORD dealer install accessory done before delivery is covered under the 3/36 Factory Warranty, but only Ford parts, not FRPP.
Superchargers - FR 400 HP SuperPack & FR SuperPack 600
(M-6066-M463V, M-6066-M463V7, M-6066-M463V8, M-6066-M463P, M-6066-M463P7, M-6066-M463P8, and M-6066-SGT) are warranted for factory-supplied material or workmanship beginning upon dealer installation and registration of the Ford Racing Supercharger with Ford Racing and ends at either 12 months/12,000 miles (whichever occurs first). Installation must occur prior to the vehicle reaching either 36 months/36,000 miles (whichever occurs first) from the beginning of the manufacturer's New Vehicle Limited Warranty. This Limited Warranty replaces the existing manufacture's New Vehicle Limited Warranty for engine, driveline and suspension parts.
• The FR 400 HP SuperPack is only warranted when dealer installed on Mustang GT 4.6L engines.
• The FR SuperPack 600 is only warranted when dealer installed on Shelby GT500 5.4L engines.
When I had all of my FRPP parts installed by my dealer prior to delivery, as long as they were FRPP parts, they considered them Ford with respect to not voiding the overall warranty but would not cover the actual FRPP part.

Yes they are covered under warranty IF they are installed by a Ford Lincoln Mercury Dealer.
Go to Ford Racing Performance Parts [Warranty] for the complete warranty requirements.
