Ok, I hate to admit that I had kill a fellow Ford, but my friends would not shut their traps. One of my friends has a '03 F150 Harley Davidson with a supercharger, putting out 390 hp. She braggs all the time how fast her truck. She even claims she has taken a Mustang or to. Her boyfriend has a a '02 Ford Lightening, which he claims to be faster than the Harley Davidson (although my friend would dispute that). Anyways, I went over to my friends house for a BBQ and I broght the Stang. We started talking about cars. After a few moments, listening to "how fast their trucks were," I casually mentioned my GTO kill story. They did not believe that that my Stang was that fast. Then they topped it off by saying both of their trucks could not only beat me, but take the GTO as well. Well, after awhile, my speed demon in me decided to maked them put their money where there mouthes were. We all drove to the nearest college parking lot, found a large section with no cars. We all three lined up. Just for effect, we lined up with one of the trucks on either side of me. We had a fourth friend to start us off.
The good news for my friend (the female) is she was right, her F150 Harley Davidson wsas faster than the LIghtening. However, both truck drives now know my license plate (I only have a rear one) very well. My Stang stomped them all over the place. I really was not looking for a race, but I did have my honor and the honor of my Stang toprotect.
Well after a lot of pouting by my friends, we continued the BBQ and had a lot of laughs. I mean what did they expect, my Stang is considerably lighter than either of the two trucks, plus both trucks are essentially stock (they both had upgradeed exhaust and the Harley had a CAI), but my Stang is not quite stock. The race wa snot even close. Well, that is the end of this story...or until they open their mouthes again.
Yeah, i seem to always get challenged by trucks and suvs, they do have powerfull engines but they also weigh twice as much as the stangs do. I think the trucks are 6500-7000 lbs.

The Harley Davidson F150 weighs in around 5800 lbs and the F150 Lightening weighs in somewhere near 5400 lbs or so. Now, I could be off, but even if accurate, my Stang weighs in around 3650 or so (give or take) and I am putting out close to 375 hp with all my mods. Oh well, I am just going to have go to my friend with a Camaro SS house next week.
impressive, i have a buddy that has a lightning and he is always running his mouth. i figured it would be close due to the weight but now i know. i was waiting to get some mods before offering the challenge, with my Ti on its way and eibachs here. it's go time

Have you dynoed your car yet? You should dyno it to see where you at in HP. The 4th gen camaros are lighter by a little bit than the S197s...plus they put around 300 to the wheels. It would be a drivers race if he's also modded or not.

So whats the actuall Horse Power of both these trucks stock?
Is 390 accurate.?
390 hp is what the dealer says the F-150 Harley-Davidson with supercharger puts out (also goes for a Lightening with a supercharger, this one did not have the supercharger). I have no idea what the rear wheel hp is on either thruck or what the trucks actually put out. Anyways, it was a fun kill.
If I was you I woulda been rubbing it in their faces so bad after they were talking smack about your car...something about you giving them a beating just like Ortiz did to Shamrock last night.

I am running approximately 370 hp (assuming the parts are giving me what they claim, but I grant I have yet to get it dynoed...still looking for a dyno around my area). As for mods,I have the basics (plus or minus), which consist of: SCT XCal2 tuner (Brenspeed tune with 91 Octane tune), K&N CAI, FM exhaust, MAC cermaic headers, MAC X-pipe, Steda UDP, 62mm TB, FRPP 4.10 gears, Saleen short-throw shifter adapter, Saleen suspension (sprigs, struts/shocks, sway bars), adjustable panhard bar and I use royal Purple synthetic oil just for an added touch.
Now, even if I am not quite at 370 hp, my horsepower -to-weight ratio is significantly better than either truck.
Have no worries, I did not stop gloating throughout the entire BBQ. I did tell both friends that I was going to put a silloette of their trucks on my car showing everyone my kill. Ironically neither have said anything but good things about my car. In fact, the male friend is always trying to get to go up against anything he sees that looks fast. Of course, he wants a Mustang now. The other friends (female) continues to pout and says it was a fluke (yet she wont race me again).
I would like to add a supercharger and then go up against them again...I mean I am sure they need reminding of what my license plate (rear only) says.

Not to doubt you or anything, but how did you come up with that HP? You do know you can't just add up the expected HP from each part individually because they have different effects when combined....unless you know someone who has similar mods and has had theirs dyno'd? The most I heard with similar mods was like 330 RWHP...I guess it could translate to 370 at the crank....

It is okay to doubt my numbers, for I doubt people for a living. Anyways, as I said, it is an approximation. Yes, I do know a friend of mine with very smilar mods and he was dynoed at 372 hp at the crank. I grant, I am simply guessing based on other people's experience, manufacturers claimis (and I have actually used the lower end of the rating that a manufacturer gives), and so forth.
As mentioned, do I know it is 370...NO. What I do know, my car is pretty quick and has won more than its fair share of "friendly bouts of competition". If and when I am able to find an actual speed shop that will dyno my engine/car, I am there. Until then, the exact amount of horsepower is not critical for me, just knowing my toy is fast enough works for me.

I'd say that's a pretty accurate estimate. Factoring in drivetrain losses, that puts you at ~325 to the wheels. Sounds about right to me.

That's pretty impressive then! I'm envious...I wish I could put a full exhaust on, but it's my daily driver...so I don't want it crazy loud...but I wish I could just for the HP gains with diff headers and mid pipes.
