Has anybody else noticed or seen a lot of 05 Mustangs showing up on Used Car Lots?
I live in a mid-size town in NE Texas (pop. ~25,000) and I bet that I've seen at least 10 different V6 Mustangs showing up on Used Car Lots (but never a GT) in the past 3 or 4 months.
The intersting thing to note is that all of them have been on Non-Ford Dealership Lots. And that they've all had Body Molding on the doors.
If you happen to be as anal as myself and studied the 05 ordering guide. You would know that the body molding was only available in Canada and on Fleet orders.
Hmmm, I don't think any of these cars made it down to Texas from Canada in just one year, so by deduction they must be fleet cars. Which most likely means that these used cars were probably bought at auction from rental car companies who are selling off last years cars!!!!

havent seen a 05 stang on the used car lot yet but i've seen so many chargers...bro in the city there is a charger or magnum on every other inner city block...no exaggeration....so i guess the repo man is havin a field day
I saw a V6 w/ Pony Package in the used car lot when I went to order my GT. It was marked at $15,000, but don't remember how many miles it had on it. Don't think it was a rental, but I do know that it was gone (sold) that week.
Has anyone seen any GTs on the used car lots yet? Or do people just buy them, not lease?
I have noticed the same thing, up here in Michigan, with regards to the V6 Mustangs. That could be due in part to geography and auctions. I noticed some slightly different looking 2005's on the lots around Kalamazoo and Battle Creek that appear to be just a little different. I could not put my finger on the difference, but now I am going to look for the moldings, specifically. I have been spending a lot of time looking at cars lately, probably too much time, as well as spending too much time on this site.
The odd V6's I have noticed, are mostly exclusive to non-Ford dealerships. I must admit the good deals on GTO's that are currently available has taken me to some places I would not normally go (To the Dark Side - Bow-Tie dealerships). And that is where I noticed the strange Stangs.
Also, as far as the Magnums, they are everywhere up here. Dodge/Chrysler must have had some really good incentives (probably too good) to get people behind the wheels of those things, b/c I cannot believe that all of those cars are coming to the used car lots due to the owner's distaste for the car. Also, I take into account the caliber of the dealerships selling them. A lot of the dealerships are the types that advertise "Buy here, pay here." Which is a problem in Michigan, and the rougher areas, targeting the poor. Sadly, these dealerships are just as bad as Predatory Lenders (Pay Day Lenders.) Interesting enough, some of these dealers up here are actually owned and operated by the reputable dealerships that are tied up with the Big 3 - just like some of the predatory lenders are connected to big name banks. However, I guess it isn't technically illegal to target the working poor...heck it must a good business tactic, since these operations are popping up everywhere. Alright, I will get off my poor people legal advocate soap box! Sorry...I just get fired up, and need to put the caffine down! Also, sorry for getting off topic!
Sorry for the earlier post! The general premise I believe in is "a fool and his money are easily separated." So, I guess that is a sorta retractment of my rantings against certain used car dealerships and pay day lenders.

Just at my dealership there are abbout 4 Used V6's and 3 GT's... verts, coupes, some have some aftermakret parts like hood scoops and blackout panels, and some are stock. Pretty good selection for one dealership of used 05s.

I've noticed a ton of '05 Mustangs here too. I can't remember any recalls or service issuues on them that would frighten customers away. As far as rentals, I've been known to rent them and put it through the time trials a couple times. I was pretty impressed with it......
the 05's at local dealer here are all former rentals (body side molding). No GT's, no other V6's.
Bewteen rental car agencies, end of term leases, you will see them on lots, usually with higher then average annual mileage.
The ones with the body side moldings are the fleet cars.
Most likely you will see V6's, GT are normally purchased by sole owners.
My '05 GT coupe is on a dealers lot because I just traded it in for an '06 convertible! I went to a couple different dealers and from my experience they are giving good money for clean low mileage '05 GTs. I think this is because there are a lot of people looking for the new ('05) body style that do not want to buy new. Anyway, for what it's worth I got $23K for mine (it was about $26K sticker new) and they took $700 off the sticker for the '06 vert.
