Another tragic Deadly Race:
two vehicles, a Honda and an Isuzu, were racing side by side at speeds in excess of 100 mph.
Look at the pics in the below link, you cannot even tell the car.
** Keep away From Street Racing **
Tracks are for racing, Public streets are for getting places safely and not endangering the public.
Well, racing here in CA has taken an interesting twist...a local community has outlawed the side shows (definition includes drifting, drag racing, street racing, showing off with the use of a vehicle, doing doughnuts, and even exhibition of speed), which means if caught, besides going ot jail, your ride gets impounded. Now that law itself may not be too shocking...however, this local community goes one step further...it is now amisdemeanor to even be a spectator in such event. Thoeretically, you will be charged with a misdemeanor for just watching the spectacle. This law came around because of some recent street racing which resulted in several fatalities. Just out of curiosity, are there similar laws in other states that any of you know about?
Its hard to tell the guys up here in the bay area in ca. to stop racing on the street. Races everynight every town. We have big groups of people who get together and go to a long strech on the highway or back round and light them up. Accidents happen every day. Its just a freak accident or a bad driver, but its hard to keep the guys in cali to stop racing over and accident.
That accident has stupidity written all over it;
Drag racing during the day where people are about.
Racing an Isuzu (not exactly meant for high speed handling)
An 18 year old racing. (experience?)
A 33 year old racing an 18 year old (Something to prove?)
Racing with passengers in the car.
I am very sorry to hear people died, especially the innocent passengers. If that kid survives, his life is over.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.
In Ohio you'll get a minimum of two weeks in the slammer and 12 months without your DL for street racing... even though it was recently shown in court that there is a hole in the law as it had to be intentional and planned on... I guess when I floor it not to let the WRX pass it's not planned, right?

US19 in this part of FL is known as suicide highway, Extremely heaverly traveled, free for all any where u-turns, many elderly drivers in Florida, wall to wall driveways in and out of stores, malls, fast food places, etc, and life light helicoptors picking them up daily. Anyone who lives here knows or should know the dangers and constant accidents that occur. For these two morons to do that speed in a 45 to 55 mph zone is absolutely insane. Mix kids, and the elderly on this road, and you spell "LifeLight". What were they thinking?
I think the only one wearing a seatbelt in the Florida accident was the passenger in the Isuzu-she survived.
The driver of the Isuzu was 35 and the Honda was 18.
It was an adult-child and a child racing - now we will hear 2 days of wives, children and relatives tell us on TV how wonderful these people were and it is a "BIG" surprise they were speeding for they were always so careful. And do not forget to bring flowers and a sign for the "roadside shrine". Too late when you're dead.
Awful. Just awful. I guess some people will nver grow up (ie. the 33 year old) and so the cycle will continually be prepetuated. Do adults think kids just make stuff up out of thin air? The reason kids are bad drivers is that they see it everyday from their parents and everyone else on the road. And yet the adults still drive like idiots, and then yell at the kid who does it beter than them.
"It takes a village to raise a child," as the old axiom goes. Well, it takes a village to screw one up, too. Everyone out there on the road that drives like an a**h*** is setting the example for our next generation. The scary thing is that with faster cars and more power, this next generation is getting more deadly weapons to take out onto the roads.

I've heard in Lancaster(high desert area) that if you are caught street racing that not only do the impound your car if convicted it then goes to the SHREDDER!!! now that's cracking down!!

They cited my cousin in Worthington (Columbus-area) for street racing and he got nothing more than a ticket (can't even remember what for). In his case they could not prove he had the 'intent' to race. He and another guy were stopped at a light and both punched it at the same time when it turned green.
And don't you wonder what the passengers were doing/saying when all of this was going on?? I had the same thoughts myltlpny did...what was a 33 year old doing racing an 18 year old?? That's my age - I have a good lead in years on my boyfriend and neither of us are that crazy....

Then you must be extremely familiar with US19, as I stated up above in my prior post.
I live off of US19 but up near Brooksville area. Is Alderman just a 1/2 mile south of the Karl Flammer Ford dealer? I have seen the street name, but do not drive that area too much.
