I am going to buy a new mustang, I am wanting one with a body kit. Does anyone have an opinion on if I should buy one from a dealer that already has it, or do the kit myself? Or any other suggestions on where to buy?
The only body kits i know come stock from the dealer is the Roush and Saleen. You have many choices to pick from on body kits... make sure you calculate the cost of installation and go with a good shop... you dont want a crappy install and have it fall off later.

I would either go with the Street Scene Gen I or the RK Sport California Dreaming body kits...those are my two favorites and argubably the most affordable (under $1,000) depending on where you get them, but this of course exludes doing a GT body kit conversion.
Around my neck of the woods the big Ford dealerships in downtown (Columbia) have the Roush and Saleen body kits installed on their cars or the cars may be legit Roush's and Saleen's, I haven't gotten close to the cars to tell or ask the dealers. As a matter of fact I saw a red +2005 Ford Mustang Roush edition while I was pumping gas in downtown Columbia. The local dealership (close to where I live and got my Mustang from) use the Street Scene Gen I bodykits. Since they have their own in house paint and bodyshop, I think they did work themselves. There's a georgeous yellow GT that works at a bank near my house with this body kit and it's just flawless. I want to get that kit for my car as soon as I get some extra cash and can get my old computer sold and out the home.
Thanks for the responses, I have looked at the Saleen and Roush, and they don't really do it for me. A friend of mine saw an ad in 5.0 Mustang for one called custom tribute. They do conversions on new mustangs. I took a look at their site customtribute.com, and it looks interesting, any comments?
Another nice body kit is the 3dcarbon.. They have 2, the GT and the boy racer. I like the sublte GT kit, and if you want to see what it looks like, take a look at the Foose Mustang on overhauling (black one).. that is a sweet kit. I have the Street Scene Gen 1 kit and its awesome... i get a lot of looks, but it was a paint to install... the eurethane is a little wavy and you have to heat them up to fit correctly.

planning on buying another stang think i am going to piece together a kit!
I like the rousch front saleen sides and 3d's center exit rear valence. Cervinis ram air hood Not sure how it will look
thanks raptorv, I talked to someone at customtribute.com, and they are using the cervini kit, they go a step farther and they mold the body kit on, it looks like it came from the factory that way. I am curious... has anyone looked at this site? I just want to make sure I am making the right decision, this will be my fist time doing a body kit on a new car. Oh by the way I was told that the owner of this company "Sanderson's Customs and Conversions" has been doing this for a long time now. He sold an "Eleanor" at Barrett Jackston. I think I am leaning toward their kit. Any comments?
Sometimes a molded body kit isn't the best because it can crack in places. I'm not sure what they are using to mold the kit, but i would do some research first. The Cervini's kit is nice, but i dont like the ducktail.

I was at my local dealership last week for a routine maintenance check and there was a Cervinis Mustang in the showroom (not to mention a 1970 Mach 1 and a Ford GT), it was by far the nicest S197 I have ever seen. This one was black with gray painted stripes, it had massive cross-drilled rotors and it was Roush supercharged. I was basically drooling over it while waiting for my car. If I had the coin and was in the market for a body kit it would be the Cervinis hands down. This is what the GT500 should have looked like, it's just gourgeous. However, the ducktail is a little tall, I prefer the Street Scene ducktail. But other than that the Cervinis is just amazing.

I have the Cervinis kit on my stang. Here are some things to get right the first time unlike my mistakes. Make sure that you get the releasing agent cleaned off the kit (Will pop the paint). If your car is lowered more than 1/2 inch I would not use this kit. I have steeda springs and 18's the car sits about 2.75 inches off the ground. It hits everything. The mufflers that they send suck!(Sounds like 4wd truck) i changed to some moroso cans and it still sounds like crap when you get in the boost. I checked with corsa they are checking on a muffler that will fit. I agree the rear fin is to big. CDC rear looks better. Mine is not molded into the car. Glad i didnt as i have had the sides off to adjust the exhaust 2 times from hitting . Puttin the stock fronts back in and rear rousch springs should give me another 1"
