I'm the proud owner of a 2007 GT/CS with a manual transmission. My question is, what are the rear end gears supposed to be? The reason I ask, my differental cover has a tag that says 3.31. Everything I have a read says a GT with a manual is supposed to have a 3.55. Have I been screwed?
Stick a floor jack under the rear end, put it in neutral and rotate the passenger's rear wheel one complete revolution. While you do this count the number of revolutions on the drive shaft. If it goes about 3 1/2 times then you probably have about a 3.55. If it goes less than you would likely have the 3.31.
Or, take it in and have them pull the rear and inspect the ring and pinion.
07 GTs have 3.31's stock, 3:55's are optional now. So you didn't order that gear, you might want to upgrade anyways. I personally like 3:73 over 4:10 because of my freeway driving... and if your gonna add a power adder later, the 3:73 is more usuable than 4:10s

Since you didn't spend the $100 for the limited slip option, you got the 3:31's. 2007 is the 1st year the limited slip differential is optional - in 2005 and 2006 it was standard.
Joe Jp is correct. I had to pay $100 for the 355 limited slip on my 07 GT with a manual trans, the dealer was not even aware till I told them posi was an option for 07. A mood point for me I just ordered Saleen 373 gears with the Saleen pumpkin cover. The cover has adjuster screws on the outside to keep the gears straight we will see how well this works.
Nothing like a step backward... Wonder why Ford made it an option for the 07?Sounds like a good reason for new gears (3.73s or 4.10s) and a trac-lok rear end.
