Default Street racing kills a kid

Right in front of the COP shop. Dumb kid in a 1980s four door Caprice Classic, racing another kid, hit a yellow Mustang GT, with spoiler delete. Now it has "front-end delete". Mustang was pulling out of a side street.

Kiddo wasn't wearing his seatbelt. From the photos, a lady at work brought in, the damage looked to be 20-25MPH. Loooong skid marks before the accident.

Driver of the Caprice was DOA. His Mom was in the passenger seat. I have lots of quetions about why Mom allowed sonny to be racing in her POS.

Man I live in a dumb town.

Here we go again! There's a time and a place for racing and it sounds like this definitely wasn't the place. I'm not a big fan of street racing but I'm not bashing the people on this forum that do it. Everyone's got to make their own decisions. Just make sure that your decision doesn't cost an innocent bystander their life. Peace!

Obviously it was neither of the drivers fault. The fault lies with the car manufacturers for making an automobile that travels on the road and hits others. Also, the poor innocent and guiltless drivers did not have adaquate driving instruction. They were not made properly aware speed and possibly driving without a seatbelt cause injuries and death.
This discussion may possibly been seen by the innocent and young driver and may scar them for life causing irepairable psychological damage. It should be avolded.
How many times do we have to hear it is not the drivers fault, it is someone elses and we should go down there right now and put flowers on the memorial and if the TV people are there - make the appropriate announcements that the police are not doing their job and the driver was a good kid and loved all and made them laugh.

his mom was in the passenger seat of the car? a lil unlikely it was a streetrace then...its been almost 20 years i've been doin it and wow...thats a first...how do we know it wasnt a roadrage incident? i mean...1. who races a 1980s caprice...uh yuck and 2. who races with their mommy?...sometimes people go with the conveniant reasons...i remember reading a story about a guy who killed himself with 2 shotgun blasts to the chest...guess the city didnt need another murder stat...maybe this city needs a anti-streetracin ordinance...orrrr maybe it was a streetracin accident...they happen.....imagine what that poor mustang owner had to go through to convince them he wasnt in it

My socks are wet from the sarcasm dripping off your post. Kinda makes me think of the tags on hairdryers advising you not to use in the shower or while sleeping.

street racing is retarded, especially in L.A. cops everywhere, drivers are dumbasses as is, so why risk it? In Cali you can get a ticket for "exhibition of speed" taking off too fast from a stop light and slowing down for the speed limit. Sucks major for that GT. and that kids mom is stupid too. did he even have a license or just a permit?

"racing another kid,"
" Mustang was pulling out of a side street."

Was the caprice racing the mustang or someone else? Did they both pull out of the side street? What did they hit to make him DOA? Sounds like the Stang was the innocent bystander in this case.
I dont think your Town is dumb but some of the people sure sound pretty goofy.

Nice commentary on the US's general publics attitude toward personal responsibilities.

Let this be a lesson to everyone. Don't race in an 80's Caprice Classic. A 25mph crash will kill you.

pretty sure you could hit a brick wall at 20-25 MPH and still live...might get banged up, but common...that's pretty damn slow

He said the accident looked to happen at 20-25, maybe he was going 75 when he hit the brakes and slowed to 25 before impact?

My mom would be down with a race, lol. I think she would tell me to race em.

Either way, bad move.

Update.

It was the screaming yellow Mustang racing (19 year old kid) vs. a Subaru (17 y.o. male driver and a 17 y.o. female passenger). Mustang tried to pass a Caprice that was turning left. Mustang T-bones the Caprice. Subaru swerves to avoid the accident, so I am guessing the Mustang was winning? Subaru rolls and crashes but no one is harmed.

This was in front of an elementary school. I photographed the article in the paper. There was actual mention of how the kids at the Christian Academy across the street, were "traumatized".

The photo shows nice shots of the bloody tools, used to extricate the kid, leaning against the front of the car.

Mustang's license plate and front bumper were torn off. License plate reads...

"LIVE IT"

Blood all over the road, under the cars. I'll post the pics this afternoon.
