Hey everybody. I have a question. I bought my 2006 Mustang GT brand new a month or so ago. It had 4 Miles on it. I checked www.carfax.com the day I got it because I was bored and it said my car had 0 Records... Now it's a month later and I decided to do it again for the hell of it and now it says my car has 3 Records!!! WHAT THE HELL? My car has NEVER had any kind of problem whatsoever. I don't have a account with Carfax so I can't check to see what the records say. I just don't understand. Why would my brand new car have 3 Record counts on it? Somebody please help me! Thanks!...

Its because yours is the one FORD used to make the commercial where the guy is tearing around with his father, and it took a lot of takes. The three records are for the clutch, the rear end and the fender they had to replace when they slid into a light pole.

WTF!!! I did mine and it says it has 11 records! I ordered this car and paid cash for it. 11 records!!!!!!
LOL! Some of the replys were great! They had me cracking up. I'm not going to worry about it. Maybe one day i'll pay Carfax and look at the records. As for the person with the 11 Records showing, you should pay to get a report so you can see what that's all about. If mine had 11 Records I would want to see it. But then again if they are just trying to make money then I wouldn't worry to much about it.

The real question should be: Who actually submits these to Carfax. The state of accident, your own insurance company, or the police.
No body shop would ever submit that they fixed a car, no matter how well it was repaired.

Right on the Money. Carfax database is data collected from many sources, mainly ... Municipalities. State, court houses ect, but also dealers. When making a warranty claim the dealer will post miles and this will show up as a means to verify odometer discrepancies. The Carfax report is only as good as the people doing the data entry.
I've seen cars with 3k mikes and was entered at 30k!
The three "records" are likely "MSO from manufacture", "Sold dealer and state" and / or "titled state recorded" or close to that.

Maybe it's the blackbox in the car relaying info. I paid cash for my '05 gt and there's 11 carfax hits on it. I think I programed my computer w/ diablosport/sct2 tuners about 11x LOL. I'll go do a burnout and see if I have 12 later.
