Holy Cow Pumpdoc, I'm impressed - Especially for California and their high rates.

I thought that mine would be the lowest of anybody here.
$400 every 6 months, 42 years old - 3rd vehicle.

Of course that third vehicle is higher than both my 1999 F150 that I drive and the 2005 Expedition that my wife drives put together.

Hey hotshot, I remember being young and wanting a car so bad that it didn't matter what I had to pay to own it. I won't try and talk you out of it, but I will give you some advice from someone who's been there and done that. Throwing away $417 every month on insurance is going to get old real quick. After awhile, having the car won't make up for not having the money to do the things that you want to. I don't know how much money you make, but when I was young I didn't make much more than $600 a month.

Wawanesa, my daughter was an insurance agent and she turned me on, all I had to do was pick my coverage and rate

yea, i make more than enough to cover both the car payments and the insurance. I figure i will have about 1/3-1/2 of my monthly salary left after car payments and insurance have been paid. That is plenty for food gas, and to save a little just in case i need to pay my deductible in case something stupid happens.

i mean, i do work 40 hours a week. Full time

Hotshot, because you are working 40 hours a week, do you go to school? What kind of work do you do that you can make all that money?

Well, without knowing hotshot's specifics, I can attest to being able to work 40 hours per week while going to school. Back in my college days, I worked 40-45 hours a week (making maybe $24,000+ per year) and carrying a full load at school (15-18 semester units). Now I grant, between work, school, homework and working out (I had to stay fit), I had no time for anything else, so had I bought a car like my Stang back then, I would not have much time to enjoy it. But I could have afforded it. Plus, I was a late bloomer, I was at least 8 years older than the average college student.

I am a Line Service technician for the airport in the area. I also do go to school. I had 15 credits but i dropped one of my classes cause i didn't like it and it was too late in the semister to pick up another class. But yes i totaly agree. Between homework, school, and work (i don't work out), i don't have much free time. But i can afford to get this car.

Have you considered moving out of NJ? Might be cheaper!

Mine is $716 a year at 100,000/300,000/100,000 limits. 35 years old today (Happy Birthday to me), clean driving record, married, 3rd car.

This premium just dipped below the 2005 BMW 530s premium (wifes' car) this year for some reason. My '04 F150 Scab 4x4 is only $572 a year.

Premium must take into account the home, autos, 1 mil umbrella, and life insurance policies all with Cincinnati Insurance.

He-yike that's a lot of money for insurance.

I pay just under $1200 a year for full coverage through USAA.

Here's how:

I am 38.

The car is garaged, I have more cars than drivers.

Spotless driving record going back decades.

Low crime area.

Home insurance through the same company.

Pretty much the same boat as you... $1080/yr with USAA and I live just outside of DC! Been with them for 22 years and no accidents (knock on wood).

BUT I think to save some money, have a neat car to play with, he can maintain, not bad on insurance, really well equipped - it is not a Mustang, but is something that has a dealer warranty.
1999 Jeep Wrangler, 42348 miles, black, stick, 6 cyl, has accessory hard top - asking $11,995. NADA says worth about $13,950. It is in East Hanover, NJ - Warnock Dodge/Jeep. Be sure to do a CARFAX if interested,
Hey, I tried.
Insurance on a jeep will still be expensive for a kid.

I can't believe some people are paying these ridiculous rates just to own this car. Anyone paying $5k a year for insurance is stupid, plain and simple. You might as well burn your money. Buy a 4cylinder and save that $5k per year. in 4 years you could pay cash for a used 07 GT.

Well I was stupid as a kid, but it's a good thing I didn't have money to burn.

I pay $890 per year on my 06 gt through Geico. That's 500/250 ded. with $25k/$50k coverage. I'm 33 with no violations, but my wife is a speed demon with two tickets
