I understand that the VIN of a vehicle provides a wealth of information, if you know what to look for. Does any one have the breakdown for Ford Mustang VIN?
I know the production numbers list I saw for 2005 (and presumably the 2006 lit is similar), the cars were broken down by GT vs. V6, Coupe vs. Vert, then by exterior color, interior color, transmission and convertible top color (verts only). Does the VIN contain information as to wether a Mustang is a GT or V6, Coupe or Convertible, exterior and/or interior color and transmission. Like some of the older VINs of the past, does the current VIN indicate which facotry the car was made (maybe all Stangs are made at the same plant)? I would think the VIN contains the model year, but would it contain the date made?
All mustangs are made at the AAI Automotive Alliance International plant Ford/Mazda.
The date is not embedded into the vin.
I have a complete breakdown of the VIN on my other laptop. Look back in 10-15 min I will try to find it.

WOW, thank you. I knew I could count on a fellow AFM Stanger to have the information.
Interestingly, the VIN has some intriguing information. For example, according to the first 3 digits, the Manufacturer is AAI and the make is Ford (where all the other cars have Ford as the Manufacturer). The 5th digit, represents an import made for Ford. The 9th digit is simply unexplained. Again, thanks, this will give me something to chew on. lol
There were 165,762 made for the 2006 model year. #265059 was built on 6/3/2006 and the very last 2006 was built on 6/5/2005. There were only 37 units built after your build date of 6/3/06.
