Default winter tires and rims

Hi all,
Newbie here, I live in New England and my mustang is my daily driver. I have to drive 100 miles every day to and from work, mostly highway. I have been looking up tirerack and they recommend the following -
17x7.5 in rims and Dunlop SP M3 winter tires, $1168 for the whole package which I think includes installation and balancing.

I believe blizzak's ws-50 will not suit the GT , will the Michellin X-ice be good enough, this is $50 bucks cheaper apiece.

or does anybody know a cheaper and better option along with the name of the store, but again I do not want to compromise on road grip in snowy conditions.

Holy crap, I hope that 100 miles is two ways. I live in Pennsylvania and drove around last winter with no problems with the stock Pirelli's. We did have a couple of snow storms. For some reason the S197 is a lot better in snow then my 2000 Fox platform was.

gslams,
I too considered new wheels + tires.Ended up going w/tires only on the original 18" wheels.Hancock Icebears,235/50/18.$800 out the door. There was no Michellin X-ice to be found when I looked.
Used Discount Tire. Have only had 1 day so far with snow on the ground here, hope I don't end up wasting my money.I live in the flatlands of central OH & driving here in the winter isn't much of a challenge as I grew up & learned to drive in the hills of western PA with only rear wheel drive cars, including 2 earlier Mustangs.
