With the Shelby you're a pulley swap, CAI and tune away from 500-525 rwhp. For the Roush, your a fully built engine. I'd take the Shelby if it was an MSRP battle, not for 20k over

Are you believing this guy? of course the ' bloody bloke' fails to mention the weight and price of the stock production Mustang. I also 'love' the way the plastic lotus ' fenders shake and vibrate, I'm sure it makes for a great ride and an 'exceptionally good' feeling of safety while you're driving one. Clarkson sucks the big one.

Sorry I was a little off topic with my last post but, after viewing all the clips with the comparison to the stock GT last, the back of my neck turned red. Personally I think the GT500, if it wasn't for the DAMN GREEDY DEALER MARK UP. The Roush seems to be the best bang for the buck now. Of course I can't afford either and am really happy with my stock GT, even though I might loose my doors if I ever race a Lotus. I guess I'll have to cross that bridge when I get to it.

It depends on what you want to do with the car. If you want to leave it stock probably the roush. If your looking to mod, the Shelby has a lot of potential but it has a very heavy front end with that iron block. If you are looking for resale, well I don't ever think a car that you over pay 5 to 30 K on is going to have good resale value, unless you store it for the next 20 years. My best advice to you is to test drive both of them then decide.

Handling oh yeah the Roush will hand it to a Shelby on the road course no doubt in my mind, its alot stiffer. Straight line performance? the Shelby is about 500lbs heavier then the Roush, but it has more ponies. I would say pretty dam close in a drag race. You might go faster in the Shelby but the Roush will be more fun to drive. Value? I think they build about 2000 Roush's per year, so long term I would think it will hold better value. But if you are shopping to make it a hanger queen your buying for the wrong reason.

Cheers!

TOTALLY AGREE. Thats what I would go with

My dealer has 4 427R's and 2 Stage 3's. All MSRP for around $50K. To me the styling doodads are not impressive, except for the rear spoiler. THAT is nice. But the miniature phony hoodscoop with the "Roushcharged" decal, the big tacked on window louvres with the exposed screws, the $1500 leather covering stock poorly bolstered seats, the bogus carbon fiber that only covers part of the dash, and finally the shift knob with all kinds of edges and grooves machined into it. That is a lot of expensive, non-functional junk of questionable taste.

A good friend has an 06' Stage 3 and one thing he pointed out to me was that the car had the baseline GT vin number, which saves him big bucks on insurance.I know this is not related to the long term value of the Shelby but you can still have a sweet car and not spend as much in the long run.

I would go for the Stage 3, like you said the best all around car.

OK so the Lotus waxes the Stang (sorry but I do like Lotus' too). For one thing it's a different type of car. Just how many ya gonna see over here anyway? If you want all out performance go for the Roush, you want collectability get the Shelby. Or you can just go get a nice used 05 GT and mod it the way YOU want. Ran across a girl at a local show last year with a Red Fire 05 GT, 475 HP, upgraded suspension, has about 10K less in it than the Shelby, very hot looking too, (the car, lol). She says it's probably a better all around car than the GT 500. She ment no offense though.
