The pics pretty much say it all....apparently I got a 'used' chin spoiler from AmericanMuscle today. They say they don't ship 'used' parts(they say they go to ebay)...but this part was obviously prepped for painting by the previous owner.
I now have to go thru repackaging the da_n thing and waiting for the NEW spoiler.
Did you check with them to make sure what you see isn't just a cleanup spot form the mold? It looks like thats what it coud be. If some one was preping it for paint it would be completely sanded.
Where did you get it from? You could always send them these pics also and see what they say, or have you already talked with them?
Good luck

I just had them credit me $50 for the damaged spoiler(I'm now keeping it). My local body guy is going to sand, prep, and paint-including clear coat it for $75 bucks.
In the end....I'm saving money since I probably would have mounted it(unpainted) and then had to remove it and bring it in for painting anyway.
Final conclusion: While not happy with the initial delivery.....American Muscle did the right thing......and kept me as a future customer.

Glad it turned out ok. That spoiler looked a bit suspect but tough to tell for sure from the pics.
I'm going to copy and paste what I put in another forum...
Mine came exactly like that. The shop that is painting it said that is how it should have come ready to paint if it was pre-prepped. They said very little prep is going to have to be done now since alot of the prep was done. Test fitting fit flawlessly and they were very impressed with it. Basically, the non painted one is supposed to come like that. I highly doubt that it was used, just pre-prepped.
By the way, I just got to looking and the only one that AmericanMuscle sells is the preprepped non-painted one that you got, it doesn't appear that they stock the prepainted textured black one. The black one that you wanted has to be ordered through CDC, or someone else that sells that one. Check out the link below. Look at the price of the 2, the first one is the same price as the one that you got from AM, so I bet it's the same piece, but the person that you talked to didn't know that. Also, did you call AM and ask them if it was prepainted textured black, like the one from CDC?
Did you call CDC and ask them about it since it was probably drop-shipped from CDC? They probably could have informed you. Sorry you got so ****ed over something so trivial, but if I order a part and it's the wrong one, I'd call the company and explain, if they offer to pay to have everything replaced fairly quickly (shipping to and from), I think that's great business. If it were me, I'd have laughed at you for asking for compensation, but that's probably why I'm not in retail. Sorry if I came off like a jerk, you know how the internet is!
If they had been clear that it was a raw part then i had nothing to b_tch about. But the site shows a finished part and makes no mention of the part showing up looking like mine did. CDC Classic Chin Spoiler - 2005+ Mustang GT
You're right...no retail or consumer oriented business for you. The vast majority of consumers DON'T ask for 'credit' for their inconvenience....they actually (silently) cost the business far far more by, never ordering again and telling all who will listen about their bad experience(as evident by how this thread started in the first place.
By they way, I just called AM to ask about it and that's right, the part they have is not the prepainted part, it's the one that needs painting (it's not flat black like you thought). You might want to give them a call in advanced next time just to avoid confusion.
But you are right, they probably should put something on the site that shows that it's not painted, like the one CDC offers.
By the way, no hard feelings, I didn't mean to come off like a butthead, I work in IT at a hospital and deal with people all of the time and am quite good at dealing with other people, it's just when a mix up occurs, I believe in always giving the benifit of the doubt and allowing them to fix their mistakes instead of starting to make demands.
And ok, I wouldn't technically have laughed, but I would have offered to fix the problem at no cost to you and hoped you'd be a big enough person to realize that mistakes happen, and that I'd like to have the chance to fix it before being blasted on internet forums.
nathansdad04: I'm sorry about the confusion over that part. I agree that we should make it more clear on the website, and that is something I have in the works right now. For a lot of our products, we don't know about problems with the way it's listed on our site until customers like you are concerned enough to let us know.
scottm: I understand you talked to Brick today, and he was the one that pointed me over here to view this thread. Thank you for standing up for our integrity. It is because of customers like you, and everyone else on this board, that we are in business, and we appreciate all of the support we receive from you.
I'm new to this board, and I don't know how much I'll be around, but if anyone else has a problem with an order or just wants some information, please don't hesitate to contact me by PM or at emilied@americanmuscle.com.

Welcome to AFM Emile... As you can imagine there are plenty of discussions on vendors (both good and bad) here. Glad you chimed in to clear things up. It's good to see a vendor stand behind their products.

We absolutely stand behind our products. I've always found, though, that the best way to get something resolved is not to complain about it where the vendor might not see it, but to call them directly. I never would have found this if someone hadn't told us. I'm glad I did, though. I'll be checking in as much as I can to make sure that people are happy
Hey AMEmilie, nice to see you here! My main concern was how the part was supposed to be shipped, which mine came in like the initial posters. I wasn't sure if the part was supposed to come like that or not, and Brick said the picture didn't show the actual product, it's just a picture supplied from CDC.
In all fairness to the initial poster, is there any chance that maybe a disclaimer stating that the part would need to be painted might be added to your site so this could be avoided in the future?
Thanks for all of the great service ya'll provide!

I believe we added a disclaimer last night, but I'll check into making it more clear
