those bastards....it was few weeks ago when i took my car there for a routine oil change......i paid almost 90 dollars for the mobil 1 motor oil. then the chick that works there had the nerve to say i needed my fuel injectors cleaned....im like how in hell can my fuel injectors be clogged when the car is literally brand new with 8000 miles.....to cut a long story short i refused their service.....after seeing this im never going to a speedy shop, i'd rather go straight to the dealer.

I always take my car directly to the dealership (even moreso now since I got three 3 years of maintenence service
included with the price of my car). I've never been the one to take my car to speedy shops, even when they are paid off. I tried to discourage my mom from doing this with her Accent, but since she's pretty much afraid of driving to places she doesn't know...she always ends up going to Jiffy Lube or Grease Monkey. I much rather trust a dealership than some speed shop to take care of the needs of my car. Sometimes I'm able to watch them (through a window) and other times I can't. So far, I'm willing to give them the benefit of a doubt, and when something strange starts occurring with the car, I might follow up a little more in depth about what they are exactly doing with my car.
That is utterly astounding. It just goes to show how important your relationship is between you and your mechanic. I've always shied away from those kinds of places, and that certainly doesn't make me want to run out and hand over the keys. You can be sure those aren't the only places with unscrupulous practices.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.
Wow, my first job was at Jiffy Lube [in 1986]. I don't remember ever seeing anything like this.
I would have to guess this is not a "District Manager" problem. It's a local thing. Not even a Jiffy Lube problem but one with small businesses, in general, that are owned by unscrupulous people. We got paid an extra couple of dollars for changing an air filter or selling a transmission job but I always showed the customer their filter, next to a new one, or an expample of what clean fluid looked like next to their tranny fluid, on a swatch. If it was *really* bad, my manager told me to tell the customer but to tell them *not* to change the fluid because the varnish may be the only thing holding it all together. Changing the fluid could kill the tranny
I would tell the customer that it was getting close to time to change the air filter but if it was me, I would wait another six months or so, if that was true.
I look for words like that with mechanics.
Man I grieve for all the people who got taken by those places over the years.
I worked for a guy named Larry, at the Jiffy Lube on West street, in Annapolis. $4.50 an hour!!! But back then, minimum wage was $3.35 so I was freakin' *rich*!!!
Bet that Jiffy Lube DM got huge bonuses. Pretty typical that DM's get a bonus from net operating profit increases. If he's selling services and goods, but not providing them and having to reorder the units (filters, fluid, etc), he's adding to the bottom line from both ends. I'm sure the regional manager knew something about it, too.
Last time I went to Jiffy Lube, they had to jump up and down on the air cleaner cover to get it back on. I'll only take the company car to one of those places though, always do my own maintenance on my personal cars if it's within the scope of my abilities.
