My longest trip was about 450 miles, round trip. I took the car to the mountains for my Sister-in-Law's birthday bash. Spent the night (with the car under a cover, of course) at the hotel, and had a really nice ride back the next day. THAT is what I bought the Mustang for. Beautiful rides through nice countryside. It doesn't get any better.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.
Picked up the car up in May 05. Then in June 05 drove from Ft. Lauderdale, FL to Cincinatti, OH to Evansville, IN then back to Ft. Lauderdale. I think I put about 3000 miles total on her during the week.

This past summer drove from Philadelphia to Virginia Beach & back. Averaged 32 MPG cause I stuck to the speed limit (just wanted to enjoy the drive). BluebyU, that's my dream trip, Route 66, just perfect. PBS had a special where the host did it in a 2000 something mustang vert. Not an S197 but it was still sweet.

I know this post is for the new mustangs but I have a good trip in my 2000 GT. When I was living in Ft Walton Beach FL I would drive home 2 times a yr to Bismarck ND somewhere arround 1800 Miles one way. Plus this car hasnt gone over 80K yet
Well, as of today, there is a strong possibilty that I will break 3000 miles. Here in California, we have been having a dry winter, so that means sunshine. Yes it frickin cold out there...but the sun is shinning so since I am about to go traveling for my job for the next three weeks I am going to take her out and put about 50-60 mileas each way.
Keller, Tx (NE Fort Worth) to SW Houston, Tx. Probably around 400-450 miles. Ran great, and that was before I got the lifters fixed. I can go from Dallas to Houston in one tank of gas.

I took a trip on a nice Sunday afternoon from where I live driving down on I-270 then all the way around I-495 (aka Capital Beltway) and back up again thru I-270. The total was about 102 miles.
When I first got my Mustang. I planned to drive it to my In-Laws (~500 mile one way) on our next visit. But my wife didn't want to go in the car citing that I should try to keep all the unnecessary miles off of her.
Ever since then, I haven't taken the car on any long trips or even driven her daily.

I've only had it about 10 months and have only taken one 350 mile round trip. This summer I plan on taking it on a 3400 mile round trip vacation to North Dakota.
I took my GT from Manassas, Va. to Weirton, WVa. Set the cruise between 70 and 80 and kicked back and enjoyed the scenery. Averaged 21.7 MPG between city and highway on this trip. I know I could have hit 22 or maybe 23 MPG had I cruised at 60 or 65, but then again I wasn't taking the freighter (Suburban) on this haul. Those ponies didn't even sweat climbing through the mountains. The GT did just as well going to Ocean City, Md.
~400 miles round trip from Columbia, SC to Greensboro, NC to pick up a '90 LX vert. Ran between 70 & 90mph going up and 70-75mph coming back and averaged 26.5 mpg in the '07 (the '90 averaged 29.4 mpg for the return trip but it has a 2.3L w/auto).
