I'd like you guys who have them to educate us who don't. My 2 biggest questions are:
1. Cost - complete with any incidental mods
2. Brand
Beyond that, I'd like to hear about potentail for engine damage, whether you like the noise, daily driveability, +'s and -'s relative to turbos and whatever else you think is relevant.
Lastly, would you do it again, and what would you do differently.

Yes I would but would also do some internal engine work, including cam, forge everything.

One of the slower cars around.
Makes me feel like a kid every time.
#3 the Saleen seem to be very safe....hardly no engine issue that i know of. love the sound! drives very nice...and yeah Id do it again! turbo's are for the serious power makers. just depends on your driving style.

future mods.... a 3.0 pulley
Agreed build the engine around the power adder wether its a turbo or supercharger .

I'm at 10 psi and so far JDM has not had a single engine failure in over 500 kits sold.
If you run the 8 psi pulley the pumps are not required.
I ran 11.427 @ 119.92 with longtube headers, a Centerforce DF Clutch and a Fidanza Aluminum flywheel on a full weight car with no skinnies.
If you want to compare to a turbo the pluses on the turbo side include more future potential if you ever want to go really big such as 9's or 8's and no belts to break or slip ect.
The minuses of turbos are much more heat in the engine compartment. a more complicated install and the cramped quarters in which to work in once the turbo is installed. Replacing something like a rad or cooling fan becomes a PITA.

I could have installed my tuners Vortech for under $4K. It ended up with a build shortblock, full fuel system, upgrade and custom parts for the blower... all in good fun though and runs great!!
I would have done a Powerhouse Turbo if it was avail and I knew how well it works!!

Yup, that's the one I have but take much much more out of it... you can too... and it sells for a 1000 less complete, low $4Ks... I'd, again, go with the tuners unit ($3K)(missing; MAF, fuel pump, injectors and tuner, get a AM CAI, BAP or own dual pump, used Terminator injectors, and most have a tuner and a custom tune is better!) You should be able to find it all for ~$4,000...

I will stand by procharger. Alot of people prefer twin screw because of the power that it gives you at lower RPM's. I love the sling shot feeling of it kicking in at higher RPM's. I like it just because I can stay in my VAC range while driving around town and some what preserve gas but once I need it to kick in its there. My Stage II procharger put right around 550 the wheels with a good tune. The problem was my internals could only handle 450 to the crank. So needless to say she blew up.
I would personally build up your motor first. If you want any thing out of your supercharger your going to need it. You can probably build up your motor for the same price and have the same power if you just run low boost. So think about it build your motor strong and know your fine or risk blowing it up.
Even though 500+ people from JDM have been fine it only takes that one wrong environment to destroy your engine. Dont risk it trust me and many people that have gone through motors its not worth it.
Other things you will need as well with your supercharger is a Clutch 300$, Shifter 200$, Fuel Pump 700$, Fly Wheel 300$, Spark Plugs 100$. Gauges 300-400(depending on pod style), those are just rough prices and will probably come out to more i didnt feel like getting exact numbers but those are things you will need as well. You can see its not cheap.
Now think if you ever want to up your boost your going to need larger injectors the 39lb wont cut it 65lb run for about 55 a piece.
I would suggest to have about 9000$ on hand if you want to put a supercharger on. That should cover the cost of labor and all of the other little parts you will need to make your car run safe.
Now lets say you build your motor you can get a 5.0 Stroker that will put out roughly 20 more hp then your stock at 9.1. Port and Polish your heads and new Valves should give you 30-40, Stage II Cams should give you 30-40, Cai and Tune 30hp, LT Headers 25hp, You should be sitting right around 390 to the ground.
Not only with that you have have a bullet proof motor and be ready for a supercharger that can boost probably up to 14psi on pump gas.
Think long and hard about it before you do it. I would say build the car first there is soooo much to be done... Engine, Suspension, Rear End, Transmission. Just remember as well you can have all of that power but if you cant make it stick its just wasting the power traction is every thing
I like it just because I can stay in my VAC range while driving around town and some what preserve gas but once I need it to kick in its there.
BTW, the same is true for a twin screw. I can drive around town all week long and never see any boost whatsoever unless I want to.

+1... I crack up everytime I read where someone has 450+rwhp and are upset because they have zero traction on the street. Honestly, I believe a lot of people have no idea how much power that really is. I know of many cars with much more rwhp than me, but they can't run the same ETs I do. My car has been set-up from front to back to put it all to the ground at the track, and make it stick.
But on street tires? Fuggedaboutit...

Not to mention; springs, struts/shocks, LCAs, UCA, panhardbar, swaybars, brakes, cosmetics, short throw, guages w/ pod, 93+ octane, under 10 MPG having fun...
There is some 20 grand... But OH SO much FUN !!!
But can it be done cheaper than what I spent... of course!!

a super charger is just like having a big dog lol. they are sooo much fun to have but if you have one in a small house its going to eventually be a disaster. you have to build it or the right environment. no use spending all that money if you're barely going to tap into its potential. do it right the first time not the second
I was thinking about a tuner and ud pullies and some other goodies and when I figured out that they would be around $3500 I just whent for the big mod.
