Default Looking at first 2005+ stang, advice?

My dream has been to own a classic stang. My dad and I always wanted to work on one together, but he passed away just recently, ending that dream. Well, I've decided to go after a 2006+ V6 mustang. Pony package and manual tranny is a must! I'm just looking for some feedback.

Could you avid V6 guys let me know some pros/cons on the car? Don't worry about the HP thing (the neverending v6/v8 power debate eh?). I just want a classic look with some good gas mileage.

How does the car corner and brake? Suspension comments? I know the pony package has a slightly different setup from the Stock V6, but everyone feel free to give me some feedback. Thanks, guys. I appreciate any help you can give me. It's my first Mustang, but not my first car. I have a lot of experience in maintaining my vehicles. I currently drive a 94 SHO. Sweet car, but I'm looking forward to a stang.

First off... Welcome to AFM.

The Pony Pkg V6 handles very similar to the GT. Granted it's a live axle and not the best handling in the twisties but it does fine. A couple of simple bolt-on suspension upgrades (upper and lower control arms) and you'd see a significant improvement.

Brakes aren't quite as beefy as the GT but are certainly adequate. Dual piston calipers in the front and single piston in the rear.

Good luck with your quest!

When I was first buying my car, I was looking at a V6 Mustang w/ Pony Package. But at all the dealerships that I looked at, the V6 w/ pony package cost about the same as a base model GT. And that is were I ended up.

I'm seeing quite a few in the Indy, Indiana area for around $22,500. Too bad I have to wait about another month. . What are all the color options for the lower door stripe?

Black, White, or Pearl (Tan) are your stripe choices for 2007.

If you want a V6 Pony Package with a manual transmission, you might have to order it. I wanted mine with side air bags, so I had to. I live in a small town with a small Ford dealership. However, they were willing to make a good deal and I was willing to wait seven weeks. There are few reasons why I went for the V6, but I’m very happy with my choice. The car is fast enough (for me), handles great, and is fun to drive. However, the GTs are even better.

What are the differences mechanically from a base Premium v6 to the pony package?

I beleive you must get the Premium V6 to add on Pony Package.

The Package adds
Spoiler
Tap strip
Side emblems
17" wheels with rims
Fog lights

I hope this helps.

okay,
I'm looking at the following color combos:
Windveil blue w/ pearl gold door stripe
Black w/ pearl gold door stripe...

Black interior on the black car or the graphite on the blue...

I believe the pony package comes with the same suspension setup as the GT as well, including a rear sway bar.

Default Thanks Paleoc and Zmanm3

I did not realize that there were any internal differences. We order this Mustang and I liked the outside appearance this package added. I drove a small pickup truck for years. I can’t wait to really open this car up a bit. The ground still frozen and ice is always on the roads here, due to the melting and refreezing of snow. Thanks again.

I'm thoroughly enjoying my Pony Package car. I did add a GT muffler and a cold air intake. I also had the side stripe removed. Didn't care for the looks of it.

Mine handles great. You can play with the tire pressures and improve turn-in, I run my fronts at about 2 psi higher than the rear.

hey guys,

Need some advice. Would black interior look good with a windveil blue car? How about a pearl gold stripe on the car?

Also, what are some things to do to the car after I have it for a short while? I'm thinking t-lock with 3.73 gears.

I'll probaby order it soon, so any advice is helpful. Especially on the cosmetic side.

Korey
