I agree that it more fun at the track, but once again weather and 300 mile drive.
You're right... And I'm sure few of us could deny mashing it now and then off the line. Still, no matter how tempting, it's not a good idea even if there's no traffic.

I prefer the track as well, and do alot of racing at the track but....

it would be rediculous to even suggest that I never do anything on the street...because I do---so I have no judgement other then be careful, never in traffic, and choose your battles wisely.

just wondering if parking lot racing is ok.street racing and cruising woodward and telegraph in michigan has been going on for 50yrs.that's how the whole street seen started.it's not smart to drag race going 150mph on the street but we do it all the time.more people dye coming home form work on the highway.we have never had someone get hurt.i know some will think i'm a ass for street racing but there the same people that pass me doing 90 in 70 on the highway.i see people of all age doing 80-100 on the highways.we street racing were there is no traffic but us.we should stop the kill stories because it only promotes street race.

i'm gonna shock myself a bit here but 830 i agree that you probably shouldnt race on the street at all...and i'm not against streetracin buddy..its just that i'm not even sure a guy should drive a 830hp car on the street much less race it....your car is a beast...and way too easy to lose it....besides...at 830hp...you are beyond being challenged by anyone...not a zo6, not a viper, not a maranello, not even a lambo would really have a chance....i mean...you did say that car is yours is makin 830hp right?.............then again on second thought......do whatever works for you

Default interesting e-mail

While i do street race sometimes, i believe that if done in the correct place,it is no more dangerous than al the other distractions we have all been guilty of one time or another while driving.Smoking, eating, cell phones, pets in the car or just plain not paying attn.See e-mail below that i recieved today,it does put things in perspective and will make me think twice next time.

Jack took a long look at his speedometer before slowing down: 73 in a 55 zone. Fourth time in as many months. How could a guy get caught so often?

When his car had slowed to 10 miles an hour, Jack pulled over, but only partially. Let the cop worry about the potential traffic hazard. Maybe some other car will tweak his backside with a mirror. The cop was stepping out of his car, the big pad in hand.

Bob? Bob from Church? Jack sunk farther into his trench coat. This was worse than the coming ticket. A cop catching a guy from his own church. A guy who happened to be a little eager to get home after a long day at the office. A guy he was about to play golf with tomorrow.

Jumping out of the car, he approached a man he saw every Sunday, a man he'd never seen in uniform.

"Hi, Bob. Fancy meeting you like this."

"Hello, Jack." No smile.

"Guess you caught me red-handed in a rush to see my wife and kids."

"Yeah, I guess." Bob seemed uncertain. Good.

"I've seen some long days at the office lately. I'm afraid I bent the rules a bit -just this once."

Jack toed at a pebble on the pavement. "Diane said something about roast beef and potatoes tonight. Know what I mean?" "I know what you mean. I also know that you have a reputation in our precinct ." Ouch. This was not going in the right direction. Time to change tactics.

"What'd you clock me at?"

"Seventy. Would you sit back in your car please?"

"Now wait a minute here, Bob. I checked as soon as I saw you. I was barely nudging 65." The lie seemed to come easier with every ticket.

"Please, Jack, in the car"

Flustered, Jack hunched himself through the still-open door. Slamming it shut, he stared at the dashboard. He was in no rush to open the window.

The minutes ticked by. Bob scribbled away on the pad.

Why hadn't he asked for a driver's license?

Whatever the reason, it would be a month of Sundays before Jack ever sat near this cop again. A tap on the door jerked his head to the left. There was Bob, a folded paper in hand Jack rolled down the window a mere two inches, just enough room for Bob to pass him the slip.

"Thanks." Jack could not quite keep the sneer out of his voice.

Bob returned to his police car without a word. Jack watched his retreat in the mirror. Jack unfolded the sheet of paper. How much was this one going to cost?

Wait a minute. What was this? Some kind of joke?

Certainly not a ticket. Jack began to read:

"Dear Jack, Once upon a time I had a daughter. She was six when killed by a car. You guessed it- a speeding driver. A fine and three months in jail, and the man was free. Free to hug his daughters, all three of them. I only had one, and I'm going to have to wait until Heaven before I can ever hug her again.

A thousand times I've tried to forgive that man. A thousand times I thought I had. Maybe I did, but I need to do it again. Even now. Pray for me. And be careful, Jack, my son is all I have left."

"Bob"

Jack turned around in time to see Bob's car pull away and head down the road. Jack watched until it disappeared. A full 15 minutes later, he too, pulled away and drove slowly home, praying for forgiveness and hugging a surprised wife and kids when he arrived.

Life is precious. Handle with care. This is an important message; please pass it along to your friends. Drive safely and carefully. Remember, cars are not the only things recalled by their maker.

Funny how you can send a thousand jokes through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the sanctity of life, people think twice about sharing.

Whoa blk281gt While I appreciate the message, the size of the font is out of control.......

And 830hp, you can rationalize, you can make excuses....but you will never know the feeling of killing someone innocent until it's too late..... ......so be careful my friend. I have family and friends in Detroit, what is the name of that officer that races with you guys. I'll guarantee he'll be looking for a new job!

Yo Bro, I'm not putting anyone down or telling them how to live or drive. I'm just trying to save some kids life that is reading these awesome "racekill" stories on this forum. You say what's the diff between warehouse racing and legally sanctioned tracks - mostly safety, emergency staff and dumb stuff like that.

I've partied with the best officers and Angels myself. For you to compare the two is ludicrous. One is paid with my taxes to serve and protect and the other is well........

I'm not naive nor am I an angel....I've seen things that I would not want anyone to see....'Nuff said, I'm done and wish you the best.

"A 14-year-old boy was killed and three youths were critically injured in an impromptu street race in Riverside that ended when a car filled with teenagers slammed into a light pole late Sunday night."

"The most publicized was a crash in October in which a 16-year-old boy, who was allegedly racing a 17-year-old friend at more than 60 mph, lost control and drove onto the sidewalk on Olivewood Avenue. He killed a 36-year-old woman in a wheelchair who was on her way home. Her 14-year-old daughter witnessed the accident, police said."
