Ten days ago, I had my `05 mustang towed to the dealer because of a defective oil filter. It`s a long story...so I wont bore you. The point is, the oil pressure dropped low enough to cause the computer to go into "fail safe" mode. The dealer says no harm was done to the engine. However, they could not reset the computer. In their words, the processor had a "meltdown" and would need to be replaced. All this would be covered by the warrenty and they would have to get a new processor from Ford. The processor went on and off backorder twice. Today they said the processor is now on "national backorder" and one wouldn`t be available until March 21st!!! How could this be on backorder for so long? Wouldn`t the `07 stangs need the same processor?
not necessarily, they change these all the time, just like your home pc's processor, as soon as you get a new one, it's already obsolete.
The processors may have more memory capability etc.
Although he is probably talking about the memory prom, not the processor itself

The oil filter was a Fram. The dealer did decide to provide me a car. To add insult to injury, they gave me a `01 four door Escort with over 84,000 miles. Smells like someone puked in it and they tried to cover it with Fabreeze!
All these things seems to happen to good ppl... me who would be laughed at if I brought my car to a dealer have had no problem... mysterious way them car Gods have...

You should complain like hell and at least get a Fusion.
Without the puke smell too.

Wow your really lucky to have it done under warrenty since it was a fram oil filter. Im interested to on the problems with fram, I used them on my old Thunderbird with no problems.

I have used Fram on my '97 Ranger for years but I don't need to be hit in the head with a baseball bat to take good advice. I'll be using Ford filters.
