Due to the fact that the Shelby GT500 was $55+, and now the new Shelby GT stickers for $38,000.00 with the dealerships selling them for $16+ over sticker on ebay, its no wonder cloning is an issue. Due to the fact that its almost impossible for any to afford one of these new mustangs, I am all for cloning. There seems to be alot of talk about cloning Shelby's. Well, what about all those 2005 and up V6 mustangs out there that turned them into GT's. Everything is available to clone a GT, and people are doing it and nothing is said. But cloning a Shelby seems to taboo. The minute those dual stripes go on, and the GT 350 rocker stripe goes on, you just cloned a Shelby. Since I have to admit
I probably will never be able to afford the new Shelby GT, I intend to clone it. I can get the same handling pack, performance pack, wheels, stripes, emblems, you name it, for a @#&@ of alot less money. Lets face it, its the looks we all are going for, not the authenticity. Noone seemed to burst those Chevy guys bubbles since there are now more SS Camaro's, SS Chevelle'S, and SS Nova's on the road and for sale than were produced. Just MY 2 cents.
I don't see anything necessarily wrong with it personally. Everyone has their own thing of what they like and who's to say whats what really. Myself, I just want to get a hold of a shelby/CS rear fascia & do my own thing with the rest of the car. I think it'd look pretty nice on my car with some of the other things I've looked into.

Personally, I don't have a problem with it either........except for the badging. Nothing wrong with having a beauty the way you want it! When it's misrepresented...that's a no-no
No problem with cloning,as long as you or whoever state that is a clone and not the real deal. Watch Barrett-Jackson and you will get an idea on clone value. Some cars as wierd as it sounds get as much and sometimes more than the original cars.(not always but enough) I guess imitation is the best form of flatery.Maybe if the dealers stop getting greedy they will sell more to the average guys and girls. Not...............
Clone away. And put a snake on it too. The shelby is just some parts thrown on the car...The dealers are screwing up the market. The car was not meant to be so expensive, and it's just not worth the extra cost. Just tell the truth when you sell it. The snake is just a crappy piece of plastic anyway...All of the people who revere the snake should take a look at the poor quality of shelby parts today. If C.S. thought he was recreating a myth, he should have also insisted on creating a higher level of quality on his signature acessories. It's not the case. It's just a marketing angle..and us fools who are buying into it are just that. The guys who are paying fortunes for those cars, are really foolish. My bet is there will be a glut of those cars in 2 years...look how cheap you can get a 2005GT now...
Donnot stamp Shelby on your trunk lid and put cobras etc. on/in it!! Please feel free to put all and any parts on it though, esecially the motor and tranny!!

Absolutely no, no, no!! No Snakes or Shelby on the car! If you think Shelby is so bad, then why would you want your car with the badging? Be proud of your own design. I'm building mine slowly and it will be a MadMan Custom, 1 of 1. May not be worth much to someone else, but it'll be my baby
Every GT500 owner I've talked to loves their car as much as we love ours. For you to say they are foolish is unfair. It's what they wanted and they could afford it. An abundance of them in 2 years....don't count on it....after all the wrecked ones, the ones left will be held on to because of limited numbers and Barret Jackson Auto Auction

I don't think the badging means so much these days. And after spending a lot of time looking at yesteryear cars, I think many mustang owners thought like we do today. They just cloned. Was it to save money back then? I have no idea if dealers were such robbers back in the old days; but probably they were. I don't have anything against CS, but I wish that part of the Shelby makeover would be to add a measure of quality to a basic car. As for the badging, perhaps the worst thing you could do is to badge without modding the car. But if you do mod the car to almost all the specs of the shelby (including the motor), well...it pretty much is a Shelby built by you. In my case, I'm running GT badges..all around accept on the grill. As soon as I find something I like, I will change it. I also removed the shelby hood that cost me a fortune to import to France, cause those plastic hood scoops look really cheap.
I see nothing wrong with adding all the body pieces and other items but badging should be left out. I like the look of the GT500 front end and would like to have that aggressive look on mine.
