Default Anyone use drag radials on their daily driver?

Anyone using drag radials on their daily driver? Hows it handle on regular streets instead of the track?

All I can say is get another set of rims; they don't work very well in the rain.

the only thing that will pass you in the rain will be your rear bumper!!

If you never drive in the rain, you're probably okay. if you hit a spot where somebody sneezed, and it can get hairy.

And forget tread wear life.

Bullcrap. My Nitto 555R Extreme II DRs handle 10 times better in the rain than the POS stock Pirelli's did.

Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing. But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

This IntelliTXT stuff sucks.

I think glyppus was talkin M/T and M&H tires...you dont want hit water with those on! other than the water issue and Id run more air in them on the street....better drivabilty....then let it down to aorund 15 at the track. other than that they are sweet for the street. so good that you wouldnt want go back to a ole hard stock tire.

The Nittos are a nice compromise if that's acceptable? Other than that as above, stay in if it's wet and plan on buying tires more often. Many have done this for years... I think I see more Terminators with ET's than with streets at MD for example...

Yeah, the 555Rs are a good compromise. Most of the modded guys around here are running those. I just wasn't thinking of them as a true drag radial, but I guess they are.

I ran a set of M&H DR's last summer... on the street the traction was crazy! In the rain they weren't to bad if you used common sense. I also had the stock BFG all seasons up front. The M&H's are however very tall at 28 inches! I did get about 11,000 miles out of them... including some big burnouts... LOL

on the street they are amazing! I remember when we were doing the 125HP shot, I asked Lidio if he wanted to try it on the street. He was like "Why, the car will never hook on the street..." But I said hey, let's try it anyways... I let him drive... he launched, the spray hit and the tires never even chirped! Lidio was shocked! LOL!

Another time we were trying to get a burnout picture... not enough water...spun a little bit but the damn tires grabbed and end up pushing the locked front tires across the dry pavement! LOL!

found this....
For anyone who is interested: the M&H 325/45/17 will fit on the 05+ mustang with a 9 inch rim with at least +36mm offset. As I look at it on the car, a 10 inch width +45mm probably would be best. With the 9 inch rim and +36 offset, there is still plenty of room to the inside....on the outside its close.

You would think on a 9 inch rim, the sidewall would bubble out alot, but it really doesn't. The M&H are sized smaller, I know the 275/50/17's I used to have were about as wide as my 255/45 nittos.
