i commute from Long Island to Manhattan with an automatic, in the city its wonderful on 495 (L.I. Expressway) i open it up and it bangs through the gears fairly impressively however; i think that the use for your vehicle should dictate the tranny. Seems like a no brainer but my buddy drives a 5-speed GT but he's got a aggitating girlfriend who needs to ask him 100 different questions only when... he's driving to work also in manhattan... try driving while setting up your hands free b/c NY State doesn't allow you to drive and talk without it, and while trying to get a sip of coffee while juggling the girlfriend... all the while your reviewing papers for the meeting your late for... all that to say sometimes i wish i had bought the 5-speed ... haha insurance is a killer here in NY, especially Long Island... and under 25

All kidding aside, I spoke with the manager of my dealership, a few months ago, and he said that in 2005, of the Mustang GT's, only 2-3% of them came with manual transmissions. He was acting like the 2006's and 2007's have much more manual trannies that came in them, but not in the 05's. He was trying to imply that the manual 05's will be worth more, in years to come. Huuraaa!

yeah...where i'm from most of em were manuals that i saw too...and being that this is the first time ever of a 5 speed automatic...i'd guess that maybe they'd be worth more.....heh heh heh heh...especially mine cause i drive it every other saturday on average...so i'll probably end up with 30000 miles on it after 10 years
I really enjoy the the 5 speed with a Hurst. Nice firm short shifts and that feeling that is unique to manuals, you know being able to safely slide around a little with all that power behind you. I do miss automatic in traffic but manuals pay off in fun factor....Blue Ridge mountains..

I went with a manual. The fact that my wife can't drive a manual had nothing to do with my decision. But next one will have an auto. it's less hassle in stop and go traffic and I use my car as a daily commuter.
Uhh.... this poll does not prove anything about what Ford produced, just who responded to the poll. It's well known that most Mustangs produced by Ford are automatics. In 05, it was about a 35/65 split. But, the demand for manuals (especially in the GT models) was higher than the supply. In 06 and 07, Ford increased the ratio to about 40/60, but automatics still out number the manuals.

I believe the GT manuals that Ford produed were mostly customer ordered, while autos produced were mostly for dealer inventory.
I know, I had to ordered mine, and there were hardly any 5 speeds in dealer inventory. Most dealers stated if you wanted a manual, you best place an order.
The manuals for the V6 were usually in the base cars with very few options in order to keep the price down for those customers who couldn't afford all the bells and whistles, but again, most V6's were autos.
