I've got nothing against autos. Whatever floats your boat. With that said, every car I've owned has been a standard. For me personally, driving a standard is fun. I feel like I'm in control. Anytime I've driven an auto, I feel like I'm just along for the ride.

This is funny because I got into an discussion with a very overweight police sergeant about this at my Ford dealership today. He was talking smack about my car to a representative and I overheard it. He was wondering why anyone would buy a Mustang with an automatic and that only girls drive them. He said all muscle cars should come with a manual. I was going to ignore him but he kept going on and on about what kind of person he thought drove autos..

Calmly walking over, I asked him to explain why he thought autos were for girls. I also asked him if knew anything about the new mustangs. He stated no so I laid out the benefits of the auto tranny in them such as the drastic improvements with a tune, ease of drive in the city, etc. Well, once again he said manuals are better, so I asked him if he owns a Mustang. His comment was no and that he wanted to always buy one. I told him that Mustang he was talking smack about was mine and that it has won many races before at the 1/4 track and on the street with it's "girlie tranny". The stunned look on his red face was great. It goes to show the ignorance of some people, especially this cop who was talking smack about someone and something he knew nothing about. And I wonder why most police here don't get much respect!!!

While we're all adding on to this two year old thread..

..When buying a used car, your options are somewhat limited. I got an auto, but I certainly don't regret it. I did at first, as I enjoy sticks for fun rides, even if I don't have the most experience with them. But after getting a half an hour commute in stop and go traffic each way, I love my auto. Ha.

This thread is borne of ignorance.
I have a manual, but would be happy with an auto, especially for this car.
Auto's are girls cars?
LOL.
No, my windveil blue is a chicks color, doesn't everyone know that?

Saying that something is total crap, but that it can be fixed by spending extra money on it, probably didn't do much to make your point.

Manual tranny's don't show "drastic improvements" with a tune because manual tranny's don't suck b***s with a stock tune.

As I've posted numerous times here, I bought an auto and I drove it in the 5th worst traffic in all of America, put 41,000 miles on it in one year and the car BORED ME TO TEARS.

I traded it in for a stick, I've put 70,000 miles on manuals (in Houston, in the 5th worst traffic in all of America), and there is NO WAY IN HELL I'd go back to an auto.

Stick shift ftw!

LOL, I know you guys with autos have a reason but I DO agree with the cop, "muscle cars should be stick"...

It's a good thing the new Mustang IS NOT a muscle car.... then we'd all be confused....

lol i love these threads.

i was in jersey, a small state with too many people, so i got auto.

i just moved to pa, so i'm converting it to stick this summer.

to me it's all about your location. i understand bein intimidated by stick, but at that point you just need to find the right person to teach you and you're good.
