Default Decisions on a short throw shifter

OK so a month ago i ordered a Hurst Short Throw shifter and was told "not in stock but expecting them" so i get a call today and was told that Hurst isnt making them anymore because they are going to release a newer version of it but they dont know how long until being released. I was offered the bushings and a Steeda Sport short throw shifter in its place. Not the Steeda Triax just the sport. I know the triax is much higher but has anyone dealt with the Steeda SPORT shor throw before? Just wanting some input before i say yea or nay. I kinda had my heart set on a Hurst but if the Steeda Sport is comparible then maybe ill make the call on it. I know the Pro5.0 is a nice shifter.I am impatient and dont want to wait on Hursts newest shifter because i dont know how long it will be until released. But then agaiun i dont want to get the Steeda Sport if its junk. Id rather throw another $100 at it for the Steeda triax if i dont get good references on it. Thanks and much appreciated! Brent

I'd spring for the Pro 5.0.

Huh.

I just checked www.hurst-shifters.com and they are now owned by B&M. I checked www.B&M.com and they make no mention of this nor do they offer any Hurst or Hurst-looking shifters.

Not uncommon to buy a competing company then shut them down but that doesn't seem to be a good idea in this instance.

Actually theres a Hurst link on the B&M site that sends you to the "soon to be updated" Hurst site. Keeping fingers crossed.

...especially since Hurst is easily the most recognized name in shifters.

The new one MGW is about to come out with sounds real nice, possibly the best so far.

Thats why I have opted for the Pro50. I would like to get my hands on the Hurst shifter chrome handle to replace the stock one.

I kinda liked the sound of that one too but I'm on another self-imposed mod-hiatus.

Well ive found an Ebay wholesaler that has 15 of the Hurst at $179 and $20 s&h. And i also contacted 3 of the people they sold to,all answered with nothing but good things to say. I paid $176 plus TAX from Brenspeed so thatd be close. Just worries me buying off Ebay from a wholesaler.Whats the MGW one youre talking about? Link maybe? But then again, ive got the money NOW,if i take a refund from BSpeed and wife knows ive got a shifter coming. Then again ive heard nothing but good things about Hurst ST shifters..................wonder why Brent didnt say anything about B&M buying them out, surely he knows!?!?!? Brent

No link for it just yet, Im sure when its finished and out there will be.
But heres a little about it.

- ability to adjust throw of shifter

- ability to adjust height of shift knob.

- ability to adjust rotational position of knob.

- complete dynamat pad and extreme heat shields

- custom upper and lower boots stainelss clamps.

- COMPLETEY machined all billet construction. EVERY piece hard coated that is alumiunum.

- versatility of handle swap out to use a wide variety of knobs and thread sizes.

- 100 percent complete replacment shifter. no reusing stock pieces to mount the shifter.

- combination of both free motion linkage to eliminate binding when moving left to right AND heavy return springs to pop into the center gate for both 2-3 upshifts and fast 5-4 downshifts.

- unique centerline support rod design virutally eliminates 3rd wot lock out dilema.

- front support arm WILL have 2 stainless steel flanges on BOTH ends of the rubber mount.

- rear support bracket has rubber isolator pad to eliminate squeaking.

you're gonna have to be more specific when you say Brent. there are two of us in this thread alone. I will be 2B, since I posted after the other Brent.

Well, of course I meant you, Brent05redfire!

I tend to refer to people by their usernames in threads. Sorry for the confusion.
