I've only been using it for half a day, but so far - WOW!!!
I had it professionally installed, that cost $51. The iPod end is in the glove box, and has plenty of cord in case the driver needs to get to the iPod. Its very slick, there's no way anyone would know that you have an iPod connected, nothing in plain view to get stolen.
This new 2nd Gen PXDP2 *exclusively* uses the stereo's controls to control the iPod. In fact, the iPod just has the Peripheral logo in the display, you can't do anything on the click wheel while its connected. And it does the most elegant job of controlling the iPod that I've ever seen in an OEM interface. Many other interfaces only allow you to select the first 6 playlists and treat them like your CD changer. This one is very different - You can browse by Artist, Album, Genre or Playlist for everything on your iPod, no limits. Then when you choose one of those, you can further browse by Track or just start playing. Fantastic for those of us with 60GB of tunes! Plus the standard track forward/back and ff/rewind, etc. are all supported. Even works with our stereo's speedvol feature.
The only disadvantage is that you have to spend some quality time with the instructions, to figure out what stereo buttons do what. It uses the Preset/CD numbered buttons for various functions. So far I have only browsed by Playlist using "2" button and "<seek" & "seek>" buttons. And the other disadvantage is really our stereo's disadvantage - you only see about 8-10 characters of your playlist names in the stereo's display. So I am going to redo those playlists so I'll recognize them with fewer chars.
The sound quality is fantastic! Its like having 60GB worth of CDs in the stacker! I am totally happy with it, I'd recommend it to anyone with a Shaker 500 or 1000 with MP3 capability and the Aux button.

It remembers where you left off on a song when you stop and turn off the car (as long as its still connected in the glove box).
Also if you want to start off fast - without having to negotiate all the stereo controls, browsing, etc. you can make your iPod play the track/playlist you want first, and just hook it up to the Peripherial. Then it is already playing over the car stereo too. If you were in the middle of a good song on the earbuds when you sit down in the car, just crank the car, hook it up, press Aux, and it continues to play.
I just finished installing mine, took about 20 minutes, routed it to the storage in the arm console. Excellent, truly plug and play, no splicing wires. Great product!!

Same here. Easy install, you get 1 "Y" cable to put between radio and harness, 1 plastic box with circuit board inside, and cable to Ipod. Plug the "Y" cable and Ipod cable into the box and start listening.
How's it going with the iPods? Any probs since you've had it installed? Some installs have asked that you give up the cd changer. Can you still use the six-disc changer?

I had the same unit and it caused my gauges to go nuts after a month or so. The gauges would get the out of oil, out of gas, e-brake on errors. At the time the iPod2car adapter didn't even have the iPod plugged in. I hope you guys have better luck than I did.
Do the directions say it will work with the standard stereo? My iPod has all my songs on it and making CDs is getting lame and my console is filling up
Same thing happened to me! I bought this at Best Buy and had it installed for like $50. It works good, but takes forever to scroll throught artsts/albums if you have a lot. Kinda wish I could use the click wheel for this.
After about 2 months my dashboard went all crazy too! Low oil pressure, parking break on, blinkers not working on dash. Gas odomoeter said empty, ipod said not connected. Had it fixed. Exactly one week later, it did it again, and it was a weekend so I couldnt take it in and now, today, it wouldnt start and it did that am radio thing I've read about in this forum! So, now I am sitting here waiting for the tow truck!
I can't help but think its the ipod adapter.
Oh, and by the way I had mine installed so that it sits in my armrest. No Wires. Way cooler then the glove box. And you CAN still use your CD/MP3 player.
Excellent review.
Local shop recommended this one, which I think I am going to try. This unit allows complete usability with iPod wheel while connected.
Anyone have any experience using this unit? USA Spec
Follow up. (Peripheral Ipod2car Gen2 CAN-BUS)Had my car jum started and drove it to the dealer. Dealer thinks it my damn ipod connector, but he replaced the whole stereo just to eliminate that. So, now I am debating to take out that ipod connection to prevent more problems.

Uninstall it as soon as you can! Read my post about this product (i posted it under another ipod post somewhere.) I need to uninstall mine soon b/c it's caused the computers in my car to go nuts twice now (after 2 months, computer went out twice in one week.) I wrote the company yesterday (Peripheral) and this is what they wrote back today.....
Unfortunately we have seen this issue in multiple Mustangs and are working on it right now. Due to the volume of problems it has caused we have removed the Mustang from the application guide until a solution is found. We understand your frustration and will be glad to help you with a refund, as Best Buy only has a 30 day return policy. All we need is the following: 1)Copy of original receipt 2)Your full name and address 3)Telephone number where you can be reached between 9-5 EST Once I receive these things I will forward it to customer service and you will receive a call within 48 hrs with an RA # and instructions where to send it. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you, and hope you continue to choose Peripheral for all of your OEM integration needs.
this is the best iPod interface seen so far, so I hope that Peripheral will be able to solve this problem. They sound like a real good company since they already know that Best Buy only does a 30 day return policy.
Did Peripheral let you know, how they will spread the word when they have fixed the problem? This is a great interface solution.

What was done to fix it? I had the same problem, but before I was able to bring the car to the Ford dealership, the battery went dead. When I recharged it the problem was gone.
