CDC chin spoiler, to go with Flat Black or Painted (Black '06 GT)
I'm trying to decide whether or not to go with the Flat black or to have it painted gloss to match my car, does anyone have any insight, or happen to have any photos of it with the chin spoiler on in Flat black (or the textured finish, I assume they look similar)? I tried searching the forums but can't find any picture of a black GT with the flat chin spoiler, I'm pretty new on this forum, so I apologize if I missed it :S.
Natural Textured: Gives the car a wider appearance, but will look like it sits higher off the ground. Less prone to making nicks visible to the eye.
Painted: Gives the car a beefier appearance and can reduce the factory ride height look. Way more prone to being visible to damage but this varies with the color. Will be prone to paint spider cracks from lip flex, too.
IMHO, I'd go painted if you are stock ride height or baby your car (not a daily driver) and go textured otherwise.
I have one in my garage right now that is waiting for installation. My plan is to paint it the color of the car. If it has to be touched up every year or so, it won't be too bad.

As long as you don't put it up over a parking block or flex it really bad going out of a drive through it should be awesome.
Heres a link to pics of the CDC chin spoiler on my car. I kept it matte black because it goes with the finish of my shaker plus I'm going for a retro look. I also went with the matte finish because my car's a daily driver and knew that it would be more durable than having it painted to match. I've had it on now for over 5,000 with lowering springs and have yet to get a single chip or sratch.
I went gloss black on mine. I have, shall we say, an updated Mach 1 look, where instead of flat black I used gloss. As for the paint cracking mentioned before, as long as the bodyshop adds a flexative to the paint, it will move with the part rather than crack. It's typically used on all plastic parts. It won't keep you from scraping the paint off, but it will bend and flex.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.
I prefer the body matched colored chin spoiler. I have a black GT with a painted spoiler, and I like it a lot. I have seen a few flat black spoilers that look good, but as a general rule, I prefer the body colored spoilers.
I've also ordered my CDC aggressive chin spoiler I'm getting the flat black to match my flat black CDC Shaker. If you dont have any other flat black on the car it probably wont look right.
Dont forget this sits a couple inches lower to the ground so you will scrape it up farily often. I plan on keeping a black sharpie in my glove box with the flat black it should match up pretty good.
i preferred the flat black, hence the reason why i got it.. reason is b/c i was aimin for the retro look.. ( im not done with the exterior yet, ive got alot more on its way).. but i think any way u paint it, itll look really nice..

Flat black will give you the retro look , like from the 69-71 Mach 1's or Boss Mustangs. I put mine on for a full summer as flat black and then I painted it gloss Ebony Black to match the body. Liked that look so much that I painted the lower and upper grill gloss black as well. Either way its still your choice. Try it first as flat and see how you like it.
