Default how hard can I push on a new car vert deal

You have to bear with me on this. I know my way around GM land rather well but don't know my limits on these dealers in Ford world. I bought a coupe about 3 weeks ago used. Paid a little high on it but got good money on my trade to even it out. Decided that I would really like to have a vert. Dealer has located one. Is willing to go a few hundred over invoice on it and actually give me about 4 grand more real money on my coupe than what carfax was willing to do which was a shocker. I know the market is soft according to what I have read. Should I push harder? What would you expect to pay for a vert that invoice is about $32500? They have a $500ish doc fee.

All ears.

The hard part is not going to be what you can get the new vert for...the hard part is getting a decent price for your coupe. Remember, the profit marigin on a Mustang is rather minmal compared to other cars. I dealer willing to go a couple hundred ove rinvoice is motivated....if that same dealer is willing to give you several thousand more for your trade-in than Carmax...you have a highly motivated seller.

You are not likely to get much better terms anywhere else. You may get another dealer to give you either a better price on the new vert, but less on the trade-in or give you the vert for a higher price but give you more for your coupe.

Obvioulsy, you best bet would be to sell you coupe private party, then hammer the dealer for a vert on the lot at the end of the month. However, that is a lot of timing issues. Sounds like you have decent dealer that you are working with, I would run with that.

The only question I have is $500ish for DOC fees? Maybe for delivery charges (to deliver from factory to dealer) but not document fees (should be like $35)

all the dealers around here have that obnoxious doc fee

I am really stoked about the trade value to tell you the truth. $4k higher than Carmax is pretty darn good on a real money trade deal!

Get an x-plan pin number for a good price. Also they can't charge you a Doc fee or the like.
