Actually you need to do it the other way around. You match the midpipe to the headers. In most cases you need to get both from the same company since they are matched.

Just saw this thread - have the Pypes axle-back muffler delete on order as a first mod on the exhaust. Anyone tried this?

I love LOUD exhausts and after sitting on the computer for 3 hours now I have finally decided on what set up I'm going to get. For the headers, I'm not going to buy right now, little too $ for me, but whenever I get them they will be SLP's 1-3/4" coated long tubes. I'll be getting a Pypes O/R X pipe ($180 from brenspeed). And Slp Loud mouth axlebacks ($200). I want my exhaust LOUD and hope this is good enough. Now my question is which one, x pipe or LMs, should I buy first (buying them seperate)? Which one would be louder out of the two, so I can have one to start with, then later on buy the otehr and make it even more louder? Opinions? And I haven't found any sound clips of this exact set up, anyone have one of know of a site where one is? Must be that loud that I can't even find a clip of lol.
might want to look into a o/r h instead unless you want to sound like nascar instead of drag i hate my x pipe i tried the same you want i had o/r x with slp lm and loud aint the word for it with my windows down at wot it made my ears ring i got 3 miles like that and got pulled over for noise pollution warning i used to run my 71 cutlass with open headers and it was not as loud i think the slp lm with the stock cats is one beautiful sound and its loud

SLPs LM or any other muffler deletes sound like crap with anything other than the stock headers and H pipe. Louder does not equal better.
