Finally decided on exhaust setup, what to buy first?
Have some spare time today, too cold to wash my baby so I'm stuck inside. So I decided to make my final exhaust decision. My plan is to make it LOUD! I love LOUD exhausts and after sitting on the computer for 3 hours now I have finally decided on what set up I'm going to get. For the headers, I'm not going to buy right now, little too $ for me, but whenever I get them they will be SLP's 1-3/4" coated long tubes. I'll be getting a Pypes O/R X pipe ($180 from brenspeed). And Slp Loud mouth axlebacks ($200). I want my exhaust LOUD and hope this is good enough. Now my question is which one, x pipe or LMs, should I buy first (buying them seperate)? Which one would be louder out of the two, so I can have one to start with, then later on buy the otehr and make it even more louder? Opinions? And I haven't found any sound clips of this exact set up, anyone have one of know of a site where one is? Must be that loud that I can't even find a clip of lol.

Dude all you need is slp axelbacks thats all i have and my mustang is loud as ****. Nones stang comes close to my setup around here. It could just be me but i think headers are junk. Take my word for it and just get slp axelbacks and hook them up to the stock h pipe.
I got my PYPES O/R X-pipe and their mufflers the same time but I did the 0/R X first with the stock mufflers on just to hear the diffence. it was a huge difference..Id go that route 1st. if thats not loud enough then bolt on the SLP's I'd bet you take the SLP's off..lol my car was loud as crap...I have the stock mufflers on now. unless you wanta ticket for to much noise. good choice on the headers...might not make it that much louder but the increase in HP is worth it!

I ran SLP LTs, SLP catted X and loudmouths and it was WAY too obnoxious and the trumpets were embarrassing.. Yeah it was loud, but not a pleasant loud. If you go LTs get yourself a real straight through muffler like a Magnaflow or Pypes Violator to maintain some sound quality.
Take it from a guy who's purchased enough exhaust components to setup his own shop
Thanks guys. I'm going to go ahead and order the x pipe sometime soon. Once it arrives I'll take a last look at maybe some flowmasters or pypes violator.
BTW stl, love the new wheels. After the exhaust I think my next mod will be the wheels.

Thanks Seth! If you do the X-pipe and headers, first try it out with the stock mufflers and then go from there. One word of advice, Flowmasters and headers are not a good combo. Chambered mufflers tend to sound a bit tinny. You want a straight thru like the Magnaflow, Pypes, FRPP Stinger, or even the SLP Powerflo.

I did the Pypes offroad H-pipe and Flowmaster American Thunders and I am on the fence with the sound. I do get the drone and the trumpeting, but I absolutely love the wide open throttle sound the combination makes. it is very loud and people hear the Mustang before they see it. i get a lot more head turns, revved on, and thumbs up. another downside, with all the resonating that happen around 2000 rpm, it feels like things are coming loose on my car.
did I mention it sounds wicked awesome at wide open throttle?
