- I’m trying to cover up a small dent in the upper airbag trim (see pic #1).
I don’t how it got there (maybe the last time I had it in for repairs – shift indicator adjustment) but I just noticed it yesterday. Now I see it everytime I get in the car. I’d just replace the trim, but I don’t think I can since it’s part of the airbag.
I thought about a decal like the signature decal (picture #2), but since it’s the upper trim and not the lower trim panel I don’t know if it would look akward.
Any ideas on something that’s inexpensive but would look good? -
Take the car to the best car upholstery place in your city. They probably handle air bags and might know how to take the cover off and put a new one on. I know how you feel - it's like having a scratch under thecar - you cannot se it - but YOU know its there.
You have to sell it now. It'll never be the same. I know what you are feeling. I got a rock chip on the side, somehow. It's all I see. That and the shallow dent from my elbow right above the third taillight
I would ignore the dash dent, unless the dealership can maybe massage it out? The trim there is removeable, I think.
I'd be leaning toward a pony, or some other emblem. Try going to www.cjponyparts.com and browse through their emblems. You'll probably find something that looks stock and covers the dent.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.
How about one of those 19.95 infomercial dent ding kits. I've used with some modest success. You hot glue a suction cup to the dent and you them out a brace over it and tighten a screw on the back of the suction cup.
If your going to replace, it is worth a try first. BTW - I have no clue, but you may need to watch out for the airbag, someone else may be able to offer advice on that.

The 68s had a small tri bar and running pony on the glove box door.
Would cover the dent and be retro. I couldn't find one for the 68 but here's the one that was used on the 66s. The price is $9.95.
