well, i didn't see a candy apple mustang, but i saw my first 2008 Mustang GT in Tungsten today at the dealer. i noticed immediately since the EPA numbers changed the MPG from 17/24 to 15/22 for the GT.
I've seen the color in person, and it's noticeably different, but not a big difference. Both colors look great. I'd love to see the Candy Apple Red with painted white shelby stripes.
I wonder, is there really a noticeable difference between Redfire and Dark Candy Apple Red Metalic or are our minds just convincing us there is a slight change simply because Ford changed the name? Things that make you go hhhhmmmmm........
Actually, as some on this forum knows I have a 05 Redfire Coupe (hers) and a 07 Redfire Vert with a cloth black top.
Put them side by side, the vert looks darker, most likely due to the illusion with having a black top.
So in a side by side comparison, match a vert with a vert and a coupe with a coupe. The hues will play games on your mind.

I think they got rid of Tungsten for 2008, and replaced it with Vapor grey. Maybe these two colors are so close that they are hard to tell apart also.
Was at the dealer for my first oil & filter change (complimentary) yesterday, and was walking around the lot and spied what I thought was an 07" Redfire GT. After looking at it, and not checking the window sticker I wandered off. Then the sales manager comes over and says what do you think of the new color for 08". I say it looks just like Redfire to me. I went back over and really looked deep into it, and if there is a difference it is miniscule, maybe just a tad darker red. Has anyone else viewed this new color in person, and what did you think?
And you didnt take a picture?

was buy the dealership for the inspection/emissions and saw one of the candy apple cars sitting around. it was dirty from being rained on, but that paint scheme definately does not have enough pop to it. im sure a coat of wax and some sunshine would have helped, but i guess i am just used to the original candy apple that came out in the 80s. something closer to that or fire engine red with some metal flake in there.

I bought a 2008 Mustang GT in "Dark Candy Apple Red Metallic Clearcoat". I assure you that it is a different color than tourch red. Much dark in medium to dusk lighting. Almost a maroon color. But the BIG difference can be saw when in direct sunlight. The dark almost blood red color can be seen with alot of deep sparkle. the metallic. In my opinion the Dark Candy Apple red Metallic clear coat color would look GREAT with gold accents. It comes with black accents. I'll post some pics of my car soon guys. just been busy with work, my daughter and school.

The dark candy apple red metallic is very diff. from red fire, looks so much better, especially in bright sunshine... would take dcarm over rf any day!

I don't know what the fuss is about.
I see it every time I walk out to my shiny red 2008 Mustang GT

I think both colors look great! I have a Redfire, but I have to tell you I was a little dissapointed that the Candy Apple Red wasn't more red than it is. When I first heard of the color, I though yeah, that's going to be the new red color to beat. But, while it is still a great color, it just looks like Redfire...nothing wrong with that, but not the fantastic new color that it could have been. I agree that they need to keep creating new colors to keep things fresh, but there are a whole lot more colors out there so they could have moved more than one shade. We finally have green, but it's only on the bullitt. We could have a deep purple or wine metallic that would look totally different than redfire and be cool on it's own.

I parked my 05 redfire next to an 08 CAR GT and it was very hard to see the difference. When I had my front fascia painted at the dealer he needed the VIN because he said there were 3 different shades of redfire Code G2 from the factory. I also took him the gas cover to make sure he had the correct shade. Just like Ford to change things on the line a bunch of times just to keep everyone guessing.. GA
