Default Throttle Position Sensor Recall needed?

I was wondering if anyone else thinks there should be a recall on the TPS for our cars? I've read a lot about people needing to replace them and now it looks like I'll be joining them.

My car was running fine till I had to replace my battery and ever since my idle has been screwy and my car almost stalls if I've got the AC on and come to a stop or put the car into "R" or "D".

They do seem to be failing at an increased rate from what I've seen.

I wish they would recall the TPS. I am scared to even call Ford and find out how much a new one will cost. None of the autopart stores seem to have it.

It's a Ford-only part. Costs around $100.

Have you tried cleaning the TB first? I thought my TPS was bad, too... but once I cleaned the TB, everything was fine.

I removed my TB and cleaned it. I even used some QD electronics cleaner on the TPS. Nothing helped. Stock Ford parts never seem to last long. I miss my 1985 Mercury Capri 5.0. There was nothing stock about that car.

Saw a couple of TPS sensors available in the mustangsunlimited.com catalog but I don't know what year of mustang they're for. There's just part #'s. They only went for 25-35 dollars.

I called Ford today. They quoted me for a price of $78.33 for the TPS. I'm going to go buy it today. I'm tired of my car stalling in the middle of the road. It's a bit embarrassing.

TPS has been changed. Now the car runs like new (no stalling!!).. I did notice though that the TPS gets VERY hot from the engine. I think Ford should've mounted the throttle vertically, leaving the TPS on the top. They also should've used brass gears in the throttle. Those plastic gears give the car more of a cheap feeling. That's my only concern with the car. Cheaply made parts and the dash and door panels are incredibly cheap plastic. Even the 1999-2004 had better interior material than the 2005+..
