Depends if they pull the engine to do the work. If the engine stays in figure at least $4K.

u think prices go down when the next gen stang comes out ? seems a 5.0+ engine is going to replace the 4.6 3V.

I wouldn't count on it dropping much.

stlwagon wich heads did u bought? FRPP, BBR, SHM, Livernois ? or ported the stock ones ? and wich stage (if there is any) of your chosen heads.

Is this a hard combo to tune ?

61 rwhp seems a good # for me!

Thanks
All of those companies sell ported STOCK heads, they are not aftermarket castings.

No, the castings are IDENTICAL to begin with. Each company ports their heads to their own specs.

Hi stlwagon,

I'm still not getting it, what did installing a forged bottom end do to improve your horsepower or torque? Generally speaking forged engine components tend to be heavier than cast/sintered production parts. What does installing stonger parts in the bottom end have to do with how well the valves follow the cams? Normally how well a valve follows the path described by the cam profile is dependant on the profile's ramps, nose shapes, spring rate and mass and harmonics of the valve train.

Cheers!

I wondered the same thing also. Especially considering that the compression ratio is now lower, I would expect the built bottom end to make less power, not more.

You are correct. Forged internals are heavier than their powdered metal counterparts. This weight difference is not something you'll notice on an inertia based dyno however. It will however, be noticed on the dragstrip.

The internals can only gain power through compression and flame travel.

I didn't say that... I said I gained significant HP after I added the heads, cams and forged internals.

Question. At the dyno day this past saturday a 07 GT with intake, tune, longtube headers, unknown midpipe and mufflers and stage 3 comp cams put down 359 hp but I thought it was pretty much a stock car, I heard no lop in idle at all. He said the car was completely streetable no driving problems and was upset with what he expected to hear I guess. Does that sound right?

I've got all that but the cams and I don't have any problems. The car is really loud, but handles the same (if not better), so if I had to guess based off general knowledge and what other posters have said, I'd say the car should be fine on the street. I guess the only real problem is that your right foot would likely get heavier because of the increased HP.

Funny how that works....

While mine doesn't sound like a big block with a huge cam, it does have a much different sound at idle than with the stock cams.
