B&M is pretty bad on the phone. They have not yet made one for our car. And its not the looks that I have a problem with on mine, its the cheep plastic its made from and the fact that its difficult to find anything other than park. I've seen a better shifter on a $10,000 Kia ! Come to think of it the shifter on my 70 AAR Cuda was light years better.

I am still looking for a quality replacement shifter for my Auto Mustang. The stock plastic shifter just isn't cutting it.
Has ANYONE found anything?
Just out of curiosity, what is the problem with the factory shifter? I've got an identical car to yours and the shifter is doing fine. I sometimes use the shifter to run through the gears just for the pleasure of the sound but if I'm racing I just hang it in OD and let it shift for itself. Since I put the Predator tune in and adjusted the shift points the tranny shifts at 6000 and will chirp the tires from 1st to 2ond and 2ond to 3rd.

Snake 42
The detents are sloppy, sometimes you can ask for one gearchange and find two in its place plus mine is just black (no dress up) and I refuse to spend bling money on a plastic stalk.
It reminds me every time I look for reverse how poor it is.

Definitely sloppy.
Shift 1, 2 3, D and it stays in 3rd...
Driving on highway in 5th, lean on shifter... drops into 3rd gear!
Dangerous.
Dealer, of course, can't duplicate.
I'll go aftermarket when I can.

I am kinda glad the Stang is put away for the winter cause its allowing time to go by without dealing with the sloppy shifter and its also giving someone extra time to build us a quality product. I still cannot believe this...more aftermarket stuff for this car and no auto shifter.
There, now I feel better.

Thats a cool looking shifter but it advertises manually shifting an auto tranny. I thought your not suppose to do that because its bad for the car? Also what is that thing with two holes in it in front of the handle? Some kind of grip?

Not sure what that thing is or does.
I think the shifter looks cool but I'm not changing mine.

The plate with the two finger holes would be the reverse lockout. You have to pull up while shifting to get it into reverse. The last version of the Cougar with manual tranny had the same thing (ring under the shift knob you had to pull up to put it into reverse.

TCI's shifter is available now, but they've priced it at $425. For me, that's just too much to even consider it, though I like the looks. If it was 275-350, I might consider it.
