No dealer programming, etc ?
I have the PATS in my car and I plan to do this mod. I am thinking I'm going to have to have the dealer install it and reprogram it, epically if I want the mileage to be right.

Question PATS & Cluster change

I have a used cluster and my dealer says that they will mark it as 'True mileage unknown' which of course means my warranty will be voided. Since I have 24k on a 50k warranty I'm not going to take it to them. I have also been told that the VIN of the car is stored in the instrument cluster when they flash it. I guess I could always just swap the real one back in before any warranty work but my real concern is 'will installing a used cluster lock up the PATS system so I can't drive the car' resulting in having to have it towed in for the dealer to fix.
I have read both ways on this PATS thing. Some say they have changed the cluster with no problem while others {mainly Ford Techs} say it has to be done by dealer.
I can't find a thread that fully addresses this.
Any help is appreciated.

So you had no problem with the PATS programming ?
I am going to do a change and I wish I knew for sure it isn't going to lock up the PATS.

I don't have much thats stock for them to warrenty anyway, so I hadn't really thought of that aspect of it.
