I think the mods are kept to the limited ones because of insurance and govermental regulation on MPH, fuel consumption, and what ever else there is that we don't know of.
You are probably right, with the new cam and adaptive ignition, I am sure it will pump out more HP when running on premium, so they give the regular fuel specs. Sneaky way around.
The CAI is nice, but the tube still looks too small.

emotions about it are mixed right now, but it seems to be growing on a lot of people. The guys at IMBOC who were able to drive them said "don't judge until you drive it, it's amazing"

It all sounds good so all I have to do is drive over to my dealer and get something like this:
Salesman: “So we have the contract all ready. Look it over for 5 seconds and sign at the bottom please.”
Me: “What is this $4000 for what you call Fair Market Value here at the bottom?”
Salesman: “Oh that’s something we have to charge, it is after all a very rare car you know.”
Me: “Well that’s what you told me when I bought the 05 GT I drove up in, and they seem to be pretty common now.”
Salesman: “Oh, was that your GT sitting out there? Did we sell that to you? Looks like you’ve got a few dollars tied up in that car. I saw that odometer, only 15k miles on her. Tell you what I think we can give you maybe $15k trade-in for it. That should sweeten the deal.”
Me: “Listen you SOB I drove that car in here and I’m driving it out of here. Don’t even think about it. Now about that Fair Market Value BS on that Bullitt contract. What are you going to do about that?”
Salesman: “Now, now Mr. Wood, please calm down, you’re a good customer and we’d like to make you happy so I’ll tell you what; knock $500 off and sign here.”
At this point I get up and drive out of that dealership leaving some of my hard earned money on the pavement in the form of my very expensive BF Goodrich tires. In the meantime maybe the new Camaro won’t look quite so hideous after all.
ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Wake me up when they come out with something really new. I'm sick of all these overpriced "Special Editions" that amount to nothing more than a GT with some special badging and maybe a mod or two.

How many Mustang enthusiasts who live in or near San Francisco will buy one of the new Bullitts? Those that do will get to drive up and down the same cantilevered streets McQueen did while filming the movie back in '68.

I'm with you on that Dan... Nothing about it jumps out at me other than the CAI heatshield
The Bullitt is a great car for the guy who does not intend to do any mods. It already comes with 3.73 gears and CAI and various other performance upgrades. It has several unique interior and exterior appointments to make it different from other Mustangs. And while Dark Highland Green is not the flashiest of colors, it is absolutely correct for the Bullitt and a color limited to Bullitts only. In fact, its looks (and value) would only be diminished by mods. You don't want to see anyone adding stripes to a Bullitt, for instance. The Bullitt is just right for anyone who wants a very good performing and fairly collectible car that they don't have to do anything to once they buy it. Unfortunately, most of the posters here on AFM see adding mods to their Mustangs as not only increasing its looks and/or performance, but also as personalizing their car. The Bullitt needs to be left basically stock.
+1 Gary. The Bullitt is the poor man's (hopefully) collector car, and the moment you do something to change it from stock, it's value is gone. I would want one, but I doubt I would stay content with the car's look/performance after a few years...

If I were to get one for some odd reason, I would keep it stock...nearly. Of course windows would be tinted, a tune added, and possibly better tires. But all of which could easily be removed/replaced with stock parts if need be. I see the Bullit to be similar to the Shelby GT...both of which in my opinion would be best left stock or virtually stock.
I don't want it for the collectibility. Maybe one day it will be worth something, but I'm not worried about that. But, if you watch 01 bullitts on ebay, they do go for a decent amount more than a normal 01 gt.
I like the low-key look of the bullitt. Also, I think it would curve my wanting to modify... my sickness as it is. It's the bullitt... you like it or you don't. It was meant to be the car between the shelby gt and gt and look like the movie car. I applaud Ford for not turning it into some super monster that would cost a lot. Leave that for the Boss and other ones they are going to do. I think it is just something inside the person that owns the car. If you go on IMBOC, you'll find the majority of guys that bought their 01's brand new and vow to never sell them...
