As for that RX-7. Not surprising at all. My friend has a twin turbo that pushes out 800+ rwhp. They can be real beasts!

Is a dyno tune or custom tune different from the tune you woudl get from brenspeed?

The dyno tune is a bit more "personalized" for your car. The ones from the dealers are written based on what they have tested on their cars. They work great and are a great deal for guys who may not have enough cash for a dyno tune or don't live near one. The A/F tends to be a tad richer for safety reasons it seems like, but I like my Bamachips tune. I'm going to try Brenspeed and Bamachips whenever I get my cams just to see if there is a noticable difference.

headers will most likley not require a tune. if it was a ford racing or any kit that is commercially available and comes with a factory tune, it will be set up rich so that its safe. headers will just lean it out a bit and it should be perfect.

Long tubes almost always will need a tune.

You want to see dissapointed, you should have see a friend of mine last year with hes '04 ZO6 vette. He had it dynoed at Corvette Carlisle and its rated for 405hp. Well with a DynoJet it put out 345hp but at the rear wheels. I thought he was going to sell it right on the spot. Oh yea he had a tune in it also. I explained about the % he would lose with the stick. That helped a little. So those numbers are a good tool for judging what your mods are doing.

Yeah, 405 flywheel, if you do just over 15% drivetrain loss (60.75), that brings you down to 344.25. Was his car rated for around 400 wheel or 400 flywheel?

At least you explained it to him. You know from being around here, the people that say "my motor is built for 500, how come I'm only putting down 425 at the wheels?!?!?!". They don't realize it's a significant difference.

Either way he's still going to turn heads with that car

I was recently having some issues and got my 06 GT custom tuned. I went from 261 to 291 hp and 295 to 308 torque. FWIW.

What mods were done before the retune? That was one hell of a jump. Sweet

Wow... your a/f ratio must have been way off. Did you even have a tune before?

I have a friend that tunes cars (the same guy that tunes forensicsteve's car) that recently tuned a stock s197 manual and a stock s197 Auto and ended up with only 8 RWHP difference between the two cars.

BTW the Auto car is his wife's car and Wednesday at the track she was running 13.49 with it.
(just the tune-no Mods what so ever)

If i factor in a 15% loss in the drive terrain, i have 311 at the crank because of my RWHP to the wheels that i got at the dyno of 271
