Exclamation YIKES my car is FrEaKINg OuT......

So I have an 2005 v6 mustang with CAI and Bama 93 torq. Yesterday while driving to work in the rain, my car started freaking out, all the alarms went off, oil pressure dropped, battery indicator dropped, it basically had a meltdown of some kind. But the car still ran normal, so since I was only a block from work, I just drove there.
Went out at lunch and started it up no problem, then when I went to leave it to go back in I realized my alarm was not working, doors not locking nada. so I jumped back in and started it, and soon realized my headlights were ON. Well almost ON they appear to almost be running lights not 100% powered up. So I turn on lights, they go brighter, I hit brights and they go even brighter.
Rear and marker lights are working perfect, not lit when lights off and lit and working when they are on.
So I figured as long as it run's I'll drive it home and take to shop today. Well got home lastnight and decided to pull battery, that did nada, so I decidd to put in the stock code from the sct and well it ran like crap, and did not solve issue of running lights, went back to Bama and runs normal but lights still on and alarm not working.
So now I'm in the take it to the shop mode since alarm won't work and lights coming on is not mormal.
So other then pulling off my CAI and putting on old Air Box, as well as retuning it to stock code, is there anything else I should do?
Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Thanks
Chip

I know diddly squat about car electronics, but with that many different systems involved in your "meltdown" (locks, alarm, lights, oil pressure, etc), I would expect a short of some sort.

Lots of folks are reporting leaks into the interior passenger foot well. Guess what lives behind the kick panel there. The SJB! You mention the rain. Check your carpets to see if they're wet. If so, I'll bet the junction box is wet and causing your problems.

Most of these leaks come from a poorly sealed seam in the firewall area, some have been caused by debris in the cabin air filter box.

Thanks for the info guys. I spent an hour reviewing google searches on rain, mustangs and electrical problems. Sure enough that has to be my problem. I felt the Carpet and it was dry, but I then felt the padding and it was moist, Not saturated, but moist.
So I pulled the C&L CAI, reflashed the tune back to Stock, and called the Dealer.
Explained to dealer that remote stopped working and I now have Running Lights on a 2005 Mustang.
He said bring in and we'll look it over. When I showed up, I mentioned the wetness and he felt around, said that it sure was moist. He then asked me to start it up, I did and he walked to the front, You should of seen his jaw. It dropped as he seen the lights ON. He was freaking out calling over one of the other desk jockeys and they both were baffled.

So we'll see in a few hours what the problem is. I just hope it's covered under extended warranty. He was unsure as he did not know the True Issue.

Will keep you all updated.
On a side note, was I being over cautious by taking the car back to stock? Do any of you that have CAI and Tune do this when you take your babies in for service?

Well Update..
The Ford guru called me back and said they did a water test and see it leaking or as he called it pouring down in behnd that electrical box. He said there is a seam that is leaking causing this to happen. he said they can fix this with some caulk and it will never leak again. But it's going to cost me $500 to get the Body Module Kit replaced. He said it is shorted out, hence the reason my remote fails to work as well as my headlights turning on when I start the car.
So I'm on the phone with warranty now to see if I can get it covered with my extended warranty since it is clearly a workmanship/design flaw.
The Dealer said I could of not done anything to cause it other then get in accident and he see's no sign of that, and not much I could of done to prevent it.

This Friggin SUCKS.. All I know is this lady better come back with some good news and cover this mess.

I would push hard on the design flaw and get them to pay for it. If they refuse, you have other options. Car companies don't want bad publicity.

Well semi bad news.. She said that she has to send it up for review. They start the review 2 business days after they receive it. So that would be Monday, oh but wait they do not do reviews on Monday so not going to find out if they cover it until Tuesday, in the mean time, I'm with out the car.
Oh tried the Rental Car and yeap got rental car coverage, oh but wait, it is only for Warranty repairs and since this is not yet covered under warranty, there is no coverage.

I think it's time I did a search on all the Ford message Boards, Bookmarked them with this issue and start to build a case. I have a feeling it will not be covered.

So much for Quality First.

Happy Happy Joy Joy, well after getting the TSB of 07-14-6 that is related to Cowl Leaking. I called the Dealer back to see if this was the same issue. They took a look at it, and while looking at it, the warranty lady called their Service Director and they decided that this issue was actually caused due to a flaw in Fords design. That even though the Cowl only refer's to water on the carpeting and padding, it is realistic to believe it could penetrate the Body Module Kit and short it out.

So they are going to honor the warranty, and the Shop is going to write it up as a good will service, what ever that means. Needless to say, it was nice of them to work out the issues with the warranty and get me back up and running with out spending the $550 to get it repaired.

So should have it back tomorrow night WOOT. On a side note, te dealier is right in my back yard, well not actualyl but close enought I can see it fromback yard, and they are looking to get more involved in the performance market as well. So I will atleast have a source to go to that is close when it comes time to get my Posi, or add on some other goodies.

Just glad it all worked out fine, oh and I get to work from home tomorrow again lol lol lol

yea sir i have the same problem with a few exceptions. leaving wal mart the other night my lights began to dim and my radio stoped working..i push the volume button in and it says "low battery" on the display. then i notice my battery guage is red and totally dead. soon after that and now totally freaked out, my ABS light came on and my headlights went out. i pulled into the highschool parking lot and put it in park and shut the engiine off to have a looksy under the hood...well no loose connections i could find to the alternator or anything else apparent. getting back in the car to start it up, CLICK CLICK my starter solenoid clicks and no start. wow now im mad. luckily enough i had my buddy with me and we tried jumping it...while it was connected to his car everything was fine, but as soon as we unconnected my battery guage went down and all my systems failed but the motor ran ok, but i couldnt shift out of park! finally we decided to jump it, shift into drive while i was hooked up to his battery and i tried drivin home. i got 1 mile and my motor died and i coasted into the skymart convenient store. i called my dad and we decided to try a new battery and the car actully ran fine with no flaws for 2 days after. but lastnight i was taking my gf home and my battery guage died and everything else soon after so we had to pull it home with my dads truck. today i took off my CAI and livewire with everything back to stock i took it to my ford dealer and they said they would have a look and get back at me. does this sound like the same case to all of you or not? suggestions and answers are geatly appreciated, thanks

Very simular as I indicated in your other post. The only difference is mine did not drain battery, but if you get those electronics wet, weird things can happen even pulling more power from battery or so I'd think.

Keep us up to date on the status and good luck.

Thanks and agree they came through for me on this one. Not often you get to say that a Dealer did you right, so it's nice to have them pulling for me and my cause with the warranty folks to get this covered.

Well got the Car back this evening.. Everything is fine now. They even did some additional tweaks like Multipoint inspection, rotate tires, load test battery and adjust Brakes which was great since they are after market pads and drilled and slotted rotors.

After all it was a great experience considering the fact it happened in the first place.
