Default C&L CAI for V6 Mustang question

Ok, so im new to this. What would be the worse case scenario if I installed this CAI without doing the reflash? I read somewhere that the car would run lean...Ok, so is there something to do to make it run a little richer? Perhaps higher octane fuel? Hotter spark plug? I do not want to install this without knowing that someone else has done the same thing and the car runs ok...I will get a tuner but not for awhile...I would rather be able to install the CAI now and reflash later...Any thoughts or ideas? Or do I just be patient and wait till I can afford the tuner? Thanks!!

It will run lean and there's nothing you can do to adjust timing and fuel without a tuner. There's always the K&N CAI which they claim requires no tune.

You could always call C&L and ask if they make a no-tune insert for the V6 CAI. I know they make one for the V8 version.

You'll be spending additional $ anyways. I'd just wait until you can afford the tuner.

i wouldnt think you would see the real improvements on throttle response and extra power unless you had the tuner also.... i have a livewire and JLT CAI and im pretty happy with it... but i had the tuner before the CAI and liked the performance gain from the tuner itself... they can get expensive, especially the livewire, but i tihnk the extra money i saved went a long way

Installed the C&L CAI but didn't have the correct tune from DiabloSport. Test drove and car behaved horribly, with an odd govenor effect and would not do more than 30-35. Ended up returning to stock, getting the right tunes from DS, re-installing (practice makes perfect) and loading the new tune. I would NOT recommend installing until you can redo the tune as well. My two experienced cents.

Yeah... But it sure looks nice. Get that tune squared away and you'll be in business!

If you are looking for some quick, cheap torque and HP, replace your axle back with a GT takeoff. You'll find them on EBAY for 50-75 bucks or can get qty 1 from on line shops for under $100
