BELT MINDER DEACTIVATING/ACTIVATING

PBELT MINDER DEACTIVATING/ACTIVATING

Preparation
1. Before deactivating/activating the belt minder, set the parking brake.
2. Place the gearshift in P (Park) (automatic transmission) or the neutral position (manual transmission).
3. Place the ignition switch in the OFF position.
4. Close all the vehicle doors.
5. Unbuckle the driver and passenger safety belt.
6. Place the parklamps/headlamps switch in the OFF position.
Deactivating/Activating

NOTE:
• Steps 1-7 using only the driver safety belt will permanently enable/disable the beltminder feature.
• Steps 1-7 using only the passenger safety belt will permanently enable/disable the beltminder feature.
• Only one side (driver or passenger) can be enabled/disabled per ignition switch cycle. While programming the driver side, any activity on the passenger side will terminate the programming sequence. While programming the passenger side, any activity on the driver side will terminate the programming sequence.
• The programming sequence will terminate if a system fault occurs that requires the illumination of the safety belt, or airbag warning indicator at any time during the programming or confirmation.

1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position. (Do not start the engine.)
2. Wait until the safety belt warning indicator turns off. (approximately 1 minute )
3. NOTE: Step 4 must be completed within 60 seconds . Buckle and unbuckle the driver or passenger safety belt 9 times, ending with the safety belt unbuckled. The air bag warning indicator illuminates for 3 seconds after this step.
4. After the air bag warning indicator turns off, buckle and unbuckle the safety belt again. This enables the belt minder if disabled or disables the belt minder if enabled.
5. Confirmation of the beltminder being enabled is by the airbag warning indicator flashing 4 times per second for 3 seconds , followed by 3 seconds again.
6. Confirmation of the beltminder being disabled is by the airbag warning indicator flashing 4 times per second for 3 seconds .
7. After confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is complete.

Nobody rides in a car with me without a seatbelt. Driving (riding) without is a bad idea. When they were first introduced in passenger cars I remember hearing things like: "If God wants me to die, wearing a seatbelt won't make any difference". While that may be true, if God wants to wreck my car (or use mine to wreck someone elses) then wearing my seatbelt might save me some unnecessary pain.
That being said, I believe we should be able to choose for ourselves whether we wear them or not. I also believe that any injuries (or death) caused as a result of not having the seatbelt fastened should be the responsibility of the injured (or dead) party. Same is true for motorcyclists.
IMHO
May get flamed for these opinions, but here they are. Hey, at least my Mustang doesn't have a huge aluminum wing on the rear deck.

Hmmm.... your sub 25, you don't always wear a seatbelt and you post
11 wins / 2 losses in your sig.

well i respect both graypony and redhorse1's opinions, but i never said that i never wear my seatbelt. i wear it when i race strip or street and just about 80% the rest of the time, or just when i feel like it. im not tryin to sound like a cocky teenage kid who thinks his 6er is a firebreathing mustang, im just sayin Id rather not hear the seatbelt chime constantly when i dont choose to wear my seatbelt. it was a simple question looking for a simple answer, thanks slt ill see what i can figure out, maybe i made a wrong step

I'd guess you've never been in a bad accident. A lot of accidents happen locally when you least expect it...

Everyone has their own opinion but seatbelts and airbags save lives and minimize injuries 9 out of 10 times.

i guess its just somethin im not gonna fight over, ive known a lot of cases that if the person had been wearing a seatbelt they would have died. the story and opinion can go both ways, all im sayin is i dont wear my seatbelt ALL the time, whether im goin to work 1/2 mile down the road or if im just drivin around town. sorry for my bad habits i guess but i still asked a simple question in the beginning of this thread and havent got anything but flaming for it, except slt

Hey Burn,
didn't mean to flame on you. Just venting an opinion. That's what's great about this country. I can do that, even in public. I was a volunteer fire fighter for 15 years and worked too many wrecks (1 was more than enough).
Remember: Speed thrills, but it also kills.
Swing gently.
