Just curious on a handheld tuner if there are any reasons to stay away from finding a used one. I am wanting to tune my 2005 v6 with it (canned initailly, custom a little later). From what I have seen it can cut the price in half or more, but I do not want to buy one if there are any major potential issues with a used tuner vs buying a new one. Any insights are greatly appreciated.

They're generally fine. Just make sure it's been unlocked or zeroized. If it has tunes pre-loaded, they'll likely be worthless to you.

from my understanding it costs money to have it cleared out and then costs to gt tunes. If you buy 1 from a tuner it will generally come with 3 tunes specifically for your car, and cost about $379. Most companies charge about $75 per tune or $150 for 3 tunes if you are just purchasing the tunes. do the math and buying it new might be worth it, hassle is something that you might have to deal with when buying a tuner used. Your call
