Default Help, a grinding sound!

Yesterday, saturday, I drove my car around about 20 miles. Everything was fine.Today I hop in the car to go to Home Depot, and all of a sudden theres a grinding, metal on metal sound coming from the passenger side front wheel. It grinds awhile thens ok for awhile then grinds again.
Any ideas?

I don't know much about the S197s V6s or V8s but, since it is an 08 I would take it back to the dealer since its under warranty im assuming,

to me though it could be the brakes, I know it was pretty cold today in georgia, and alot of peoples brakes do that, its prolly in your best interest to take it to the stealership.

Check out the ABS sensor, it may be loose. Also make sure the dust shield is not so close that it causes the sound. I don't know how hard you drive your car but you could have nuked your brakes and need a new set of pads.

Or possibly a really warped rotor but that seems unlikely.

Is it possible you picked up a rock? Same thing happened to my winter car a few weeks ago. Everything was fine the day before, then boom, this grinding sound. It corrected itself the next day. I never did pull the rim off. If yours is still doing it, Id jack it up, take the rim off and have a look.

I appreciate all the help! It doesnt make the sound when I press the brakes. Just cruising along, and it starts the noise, then stops for awhile then starts again. Doesn't "pull" in any direction. In the driveway, I can push down on the fender above the wheel, to "rock" the car, and it makes a slight sound. It makes no sound when rocking above the other wheels.. I only have 4100 miles on the car. I don't drive it "hard". Thanks again guys..

Possibly a spring has colapsed or a bearing is bad. In any case a trip to the dealer for some warranty work is the bet. Post your findings, inquiring minds and all that.

Default Problem Solved!

To those of you who suggested a rock inside the dust guard, give yourselves an attaboy! I went out and pushed on the guard thru the wheel and after a few seconds, no more creaks. BUT.... I drove it around the block and it started making a heck of a sound. Thought the wheel was gonna fall off. Pulled back in the driveway. Got the jack out of the trunk and jacked her up. Took off the wheel, got my flashlight and started looking. Sure enough, there was a rock, roughly small MARBLE size, caught inside the dust guard. Removed it, put the wheel back on, went around the block again (3 times) and.. NO NOISE! Thanks to all of you who responded so quick with suggestions. You guys saved me a trip to the dealer in the morn.. you're the best!
