Default 2006 V6 Mustang - 3:73 or 4:10 gears??

ok ok the infamous debate. but I never got it clear on the other threads..I am getting ready to buy the rear end gears but dont know which..

so for a 2006 V6 5 seed manual slightly modified (CAI, Jet chip, 180 deg thmst, gt duals plus x-pipe and 19" wheels) what is the best set up for rear gears? 4:10 or 3:73?

I will also install a trak loc at the same time. I dont do much city driving but occasionally like cruising...

if I go with 4:10 , will I have to shift more or less?? than with 3:73.

I dont care much about the mpg loss b/c Any enthusiast out there that modifies their engine will run the car faster to feel the new power so the mpg goes out the door....

4.10s will make you go in 5fth more(so can maybe increase MPG on highway) and give MUCH quicker 1/4 times

Dont forget with higher gears you sacrifice top speed. Id go with the 3.73s personally. If you had a tricked out GT that you ran the 1/4 mile with, go 4.10s. But if its your everyday car that you just wanna add a lil pep to the 3.73s will be fine. But its up to you.

You're never going to see that top theoretical speed with either gear. Aerodynamics and other forces are going to kick in long before a car with either ratio is going to hit its top-end speed.

It's soley for fuel economy standards. They retreated even further to 3.31s in the 2007+.

hes a GT guy he's probably thinking the GTs because they were 3.55's and now are 3.31's i guess, i could be wrong though, i know my 2006 v6 is a 3.31 unforutantely, as for that top speed, 138 on the stock driveshaft therefor having to let off in fear of snappage and money out of my pocket

My (eventual) plan is to put on a GT rear end with 3.73 gears already installed. Mine is a daily driver and I don't think the 4.10 gears would be beneficial in either fuel economy or practicality unless you're going to be racing, which I am not.

You want to replace the entire rear or just do a gear swap?
