Default Stlwagon: Your input please!

I have read many of your threads regarding v6 dual exhaust conversions, great input! My question: I just bought two t/o GT mufflers off ebay and was only going to replace the one stocker. Based on the 7-10 RWHP you note, is that with duals or just the one GT muffler replacement? Will I really gain any more HP by adding the second on a V6. Thanks in advance for your time. You're sure a huge value on this board.

Sorry man I'm not STL but it applies to the single. To be honest the dual setup does not add any significant horsepower over the single setup. Its mainly for the looks and sound.

Thanks, guess no need to add the extra weight and expense for duals.

A lot of people claim that you'll lose low end torque with a dual setup too. Less back pressure or something I guess.

That and the pain in the ass of getting the bumper cut have kept me from going dual, not to mention the monetary expense.

These guys are right on the money. The single muffler replacement is where the gains are at. Granted if you add long tube headers and midpipe and a true dual setup there would be more.

I dont feel any loss in torque and I just got the duals installed. It picks up quicker and the sound is PERFECT. As far as monetary expense.....I did get rear ended so the GT bumper only cost me $40 and the dual exhaust setup (came out to a bit more than I thought it would ) the exact cost was $405.33 installed. included an x-pipe <-decided against fabrication and bought a premade one for $92 shipped, passenger and driverside mid-pipes, set of gt-take off's , driver side mount for the muffler and getting the whole system welded together (I dont believe in clamps ,had a bad experience)

any reputable shop can have the whole system welded pretty quick.(my shop charged me 2 hours @ $70 p/h + tax, less if you just clamp it all. )

Go with a H or X Pipe setup and you want lose any torque. X will give better performance but H will sound deeper.
