2006 V6 5spd, engine cuts out at 3,500 rpm when I rev it up from a stop. wanted to race my friend in his GT, but hard to get off the line quick when I can't rev it up and pop the clutch. Does not do this if the car is moving 10 or 15mph. Any ideas as to what is causing this?

I might be wrong on this....but do you have the stock tune? I believe it has a rev limiter around 4k rpm.
It's the neutral rev limiter
Why would you want to do 3500 RPM clutch drops? You have something other than the stock driveshaft and clutch?

you need a tuner, xcal2 or 3 and the diablosport predator are among the most reliable (and popular) , both can remove the rev limiter plus a ton of other options.
yup...need a new tune and eventually youll need a new tranny doin 4k drops like that...they also make parachutes for your pistons when they fly thru your hood so you can find them easier...baha jk but serious get a tuner, you can change dang near anything about your car thru the computer and a tuner

Any higher and you're really pushing your luck with the stock clutch and drive shaft. Unless you dont like them I wouldn't suggest dropping into gear higher than that because if you do, they're more than likely going to be ruined.
And your "problem" of the rev-limiter WAS there when you bought the car. If its programmed into your computer, its in there, unless you change it with a tuner or have someone else change it. All the cars come with it set the same from the factory.
You probably just didn't know it was there.
