Ford's Lion v-6 diesel

Anyone in here care for Ford's new v-6 diesel? It is in the Jaguar overseas. It's rated @ 200hp and 320lbs of torque @ 1900rpms and gets 49 mpg Wouldn't that be nice? I know the minute it comes out, there will be a programmer to bump it up 100hp and 200lbs of torque. Now that would be a nice v-6!

I wouldn't mind a diesel, but they'll be a hard sell to the high performance crowd in this country for sure.

I definately would not mind those numbers with that amount of gas mileage...I give it the thumbs up

Yea, I don't think the hi-po crowd would like diesels either. They're too easy to make 1000hp with. And besides that, who wants to have 1500lbs of torque @ 2500rpm? All for a turbo, head stud, and injector swap? Stock; pistons, cam, crank, rods, block. I would like to see the 4.6 handle 60+lbs of boost.

It's funny because diesels compete right alongside V-12 gasoline powered aircraft engines in tracor pulls and do just fine. I don't care if my engine runs on dead possums, as long as it performs (and the smell isn't too bad...)
