You actually lose a little RWHP at you step up in gear but it sure doesn't feel like it.
Thanks for clarifying. Is it the axle or the drive shaft? Shouldn't the axle rotate the same as the wheel?

Yes, it's just a little typo (whaddya expect, it's after midnight). All of the reduction is in the pumpkin (differential).

Yep... My bad (it was late). Driveshaft will rotate 3.31 times for a single tire rotation.

That's correct. Your changing the amount of revolutions read by the speed sensor which in turn will alter the speedometer. Your SCT XL3 tuner is capable of changing the gear ratio. It should be easy to change. The trac-lok differential is a traction thing only no tuning neccessary.

Question:
3.73 over 4:10? what is the gas mileage difference compared to the stock 3.31, does anyone know?

I lost about 2 mpg going from 3.55 to 4.10. I think that would be a safe estimate going from 3.31 to 4.10 on the V6.

Gears are best left to an experienced, professional installer. It's not really a good mod for the do-it-yourselfer.

You can figure ~$600 for parts and labor.

So I'm calculating with my tire size of 255/45/17 wheel diameter of 26.04@ 85 mph (Arizona Highway speed)

Automatic.......
3.31's - 3954 rpm
3.55's - 4241 rpm
3.73's - 4456 rpm.

Now I don't go highway driving a lot but yes we do make trips to Tucson 75 miles away and phoenix 180 miles away.

What's the opinion in here on the gears you would go with between the 3.55 or the 3.73 since I'm totally going with the 8.8 rear end at newtakeoff and 3.55 is available.
