Default What is the soft boot top option?

Hi,
I'm from Germany and my English is good, but not good enough for all the tech words. My question is:
What is the soft boot top option?
What's the difference between the normal convertible top and the soft boot top or is it something different?

Please try to explain what it is (something like what material is used and so on)

Maybe I made some mistakes in this text, but try to be lenient toward me.

Thanks.

It's just a cover that goes over the top when it's in the down position. Go to ebay and search mustang convertible boot.

Welcome Home to AFM!

Your question was quite clear, and chopperman is correct - the term "boot" causes some confusion, its a British term referring to the area behind the rear seat where the top folds down and is stored. On many of the old cars, the top formed an "L" shape when stored, and the cloth lined area it went into looked similar to a man's boot.

Your English is very good - but you should also check out the Regional Forums, which include many of your countrymen who are also AFM members.

Thank you for your answers. These helped me to decide that my father (who wants to buy one) doesn't need the soft boot top option.

Wise choice. The new convertible top folds pretty neatly without having to fuss with another cover to go over it, and if you guys change your mind later, you can always pick one up pretty cheap (less than the intial cost ordering a new car).

The soft boot cover does neaten up appearance in a minor way: covers the icky assembly gap around the folded side supports. It adds a little unwelcome bulk to the profile, and after a few dozen practice sessions it goes on and comes off OK. It never folds right, even though the owner's guide spends two pages on showing how it's supposed to go.
