Default 2008 Mustang V6...Zex nitrous installation question

I bought a Zex nitrous kit for my 2008 pony. I'm just wondering if anyone else out there has done it? any tips? I plan on running it off the tps so it only kicks on when i stomp it. The only other mods i have as of now is a airraid intake, duals, and a diablosport programmer, eibach lowering kit. i know a few people who have put these kits on their imports, but never a mustang. any tips?

Did you buy the GT kit? Remote bottle opener? heater? window switch?
jet size? Is it a wet or dry kit? (The mustang has a returnless fuel system so you should be running a wet kit) You plan on spraying when you "stomp it" in first gear?

Ok... first thing.. did you get a window switch? I now consider a window switch mandatory! LOL!

The main thing with the Zex kit install is to lay EVERYTHING out first. Make sure you understand where you want to run things and where you want to mount them. The Zex install sheet is kind of skimpy on details...

The control unit (purple box with the solenoids in it) is usually mounted on the drivers side shock tower.

Make sure that you install the nozzle a proper distance from the throttle bottle...

Remember the TPS is on the drivers side of the TB, unlike the GT which is on the passenger side... if i remember correctly you want the yellow wire, which is like the 2nd from the top....

Are you getting a custom dyno tune? I highly recommend it!!! At the bare minimum get the car on the dyno and check the A/F. I would start with the 75HP shot... you will need to pull some timing. You can run the 75HP with STOCK timing, but I don't know how much timing you added with your Diablo... again... i highly recommend a custom tune!!!

Good luck!

Hey, thanks everyone, Whats a window switch? all i put on was what was in the kit, the instructions are pretty weak, but its pretty strait foreward. kinda like wiring a amp but with gas lines haha. unfortionatly i JUST finished, abotu 20 min ago and every shop in town is closed so i dont actually have any nos to try and spray, its a wet kit, and yeah, so when the throttles full itll kick on, all it all id say it took around 2 hours to put on, im sure i could do it under one now that i know what to do. the big pain in the but was running the lines under the car in a alerta spring thaw haha, i got so wet, so id suggest somewhere indoors for sure. ill post up tommorow and tell you if its fun, or if its a waste. my kit cost me 629$ canadian... which is around on par with american i believe. ill see how it works with my diablosport, ill see if theres guidlines to just tune it with that, if its not the greatest ill defenatly book some dyno time. im just running the 75shot rite now, its a stock motor with only a few thousand kilometers so i dont want to be mean to it.

oh, it will be fun, trust me... LOL! (check some of my videos at: Videos and Photos )

A window switch prevents you from spraying at to low an RPM (or to high). You should not spray below 2500 RPM. Now I did not have a window switch and eventually broke a piston because I was trying to break into the 12's... I stomped the pedal way to fast and ended up hitting WOT and spraying about 2000 RPM. A window switch would have kept the spray from coming on until I hit a set RPM... I would probably set it to 3000 RPM...

Here is Zex's window switch: Zex: Traction Control Window Switch

The other thing is I would only run the 75 or 100 HP shot... remember not to get greedy... LOL

Can you fully use a safe amount of nitrous (75) without doing any damage to your car? Or will it eventually catch up to you?

I would get a a custom dyno tune and install a window switch at minimum... the main thing is not to get greedy and stay with the 75 shot...

as far as damage... is premature wear damage? Going to depend on how much you spray..

If you get the Zex's window switch, which gear should you set it to for when the nitrous kicks in.

thats a good question, I wonder how much cheaper nitrous is than the other forms of FI in the long run if you wanna be safe.

A window switch blows your windows off for you to escape when your car catches fire from too much nitrous use
