Ok, so i've had my 4.0L V6 Mustang for a little over 6 months now, and im ready to start buildin up the power. i know the quickest and easyest way to do this is to supercharge it; unfortunatly, its also the most expensive... and im not quite sure if it is seriously worth it. the only supercharger app for a 07 V6 is made by vortech, which is a non twin screw app. ok, with that said, i have a couple questions: why is there no twin screw app for an 07 V6? second, im only 18 so im DEFINATLY on a budget, so would superchargering my pony really be the smartest choice? for a more affordable project, i've considered swaping my stock exaust for magnaflow dual exaust system, mainly because i want that mustang "rumble", as well as an air intake. at the moment im undecided on what kit to buy there, but im pretty much set on the magnaflow exaust. im not to concerned about the exterior as its already super sexy (its a MUSTANG, duh!!) and im going for that "sleeper" look. so, with all that said, sould someone please give me some advice about this; im open to pretty much anything. if you have any suggestions or advice, please post or email me at grimmreaper1221@hotmail.com. thanks!
There is also an Eaton MP90 kit from Explorer Express. The Explorer Express kit is also used in the new Steeda V6.
FYI: The Magnaflow kit has a horrible inside the car drone and the muffler bracket has broken on quite a few people. (including me) Magnaflow would not warranty the muffler so I dumped the system and went with JBA.
Here's my SC and a pic of the Magnaflow bracket issue

Yes, the blower is expensive. But it's probably the best bang for the buck. Nothing else will net you the same power for the same money and time.
For less money, there are other things you can do that will gain power but require more time and effort. Pull the heads and have them shaved and ported. Reprogram the computer. Lower the rear end gear ratio. Improve front end aerodynamics.
Someday somebody will make a cam for this engine. When they do, that will be worth planty of HP.
thanx for the info. yea, i know the blower is the best way to go, but that requires more time to save the money... and im not the most patient person! but now that i know they make twin screws for the V6, i'll probably go with that. on another random note, iboB, you think you could send some pics of that '65 FFR Cobra this way? thanx.
I love my Xcharger,easy to install,looks good,definite sleeper.Not that expensive either.
hey another quick question. i couldnt find the MAFS when i was lookin at the pics of the xcharger. i know that this isnt super imporatant, but i was just curious. so, where does the MAF sensor connect?
the MAF is there, the whole system is street leagal as far as smog goes. Not in CA though because of the open airbox.Thats the only difference.
if you download the installation manual you can see how neatly it all fits together. The Kit comes with everything you need.Very complete.

Stock MAF, mounts same as stock you just lengthen the wires.

2006 4.0 V6 Mustang/X Charger #128 Mods: Too many, check out my profile. Probably currently under modification...
well I did the instal myself,it was fairly easy step bt step. The instructions are so simple and easy to follow. They say it can be done in about 10 hrs. I took a coupls days because I didnt want to rush it,,and it was cold in my garage in November.
I chose the X because with the others the routing of the intake tubes seemed complicated and one even required drilling the oil pan. All things that I didnt care to do.
I have the XcalibratorSCT2 system and just used it with 2 tunes from Bamachips (91 octane). After everything was put together and the tune loaded the darn thing fired right up first time and has been ever since. No dyno yet. I have a few other mods with my xcharger so it would be interesting to see the total output.
But like you,not 17 though,I have a limited budget and that will have to wait...
a must tool is a heat gun, required for the soldering of wire connectors. Nice to have one anyway multi-purpose tool. The instructionmanual will tell you what you need. A 1/4drive universal fitting is good as is a fi socket/drive for tightening the plugs in the lower half of the supercharger. You'llsee what I am talking about in the instructions. But what you will need is pretty much covered in the book. I think I mentioned you can download that before even buying the unit.
I'll check on that one wrench for ya
